What part of universe we can see?
With tools like the Hubble telescope images can detect a certain distance, say 8 million light years. Presumably the universe has expanded while the light we see is moving through space. Thus, the size is assumed, for example, 13 million light years. If you think we are in the center of a sphere, that means not detected the outer limit of the universe. Yes We can see our event horizon, 13.7 million light years away. At that distance, we see Big Bang around us in all directions. Note that this is a limit on the time dimension. If you were magically transported light 13.7 billion years away you will find the stars and galaxies that are like those who are close to Earth, and looking back on Earth that would be the particles that are now Earth emerging from the Big Bang. (You may object that this requires the universe to expand faster than light In fact this is true:. Everything beyond our event horizon is expanding away from us faster than light --- this is not forbidden in general relativity.) The Universe is bigger than that, no however. Our event horizon expands a light-day, every day, and we see new material in this new distance. The theory of inflation suggests that the Universe Preview is a billion times larger than our event horizon, and beyond that enormous distance that there are "other physical (different values for physical constants, etc..) At this point things get very vague indeed, and because the material is always beyond our event horizon, no comments. The universe may be infinite, or "our" Big Bang could be finite (but huge: more than 10 ^ 20 light years in diameter) and embedded in a substrate larger, perhaps with an infinite number of other Big Bangs.
