Bushnell Telescopes have always been geared for the average person who might not have too much astronomy experience. With the Bushnell Northstar, we see the same thing. I think this would be the perfect telescope for someone who is just getting into astronomy.
The setup process is very simple. Once you have mounted the telescope on the tripod, all you have to do is lock in 2 stars in the sky. After you have locked in the 2 stars, the telescope will already be calibrated and ready to start the tour. The NorthStar Celestial Object Database holds over 20,000 different objects, all you have to is pick the one you would like to view and the telescope will do the rest. The RVO (Real Voice Output) will actually provide you with an audio tour as well, giving you the names of the stars and constellations as well as the mythological backgrounds for them.
My conclusion is, if you are just now getting into astronomy and looking for a great telescope, look no further, you've found it! For the price, you are getting a heck of a deal! The Bushnell Northstar Telescope get's 2 thumbs up from Magnify Space.

Good Telescope And Tripod?
Well guys i think i finnaly figured out what telescope im going to buy, its not to much and seems like a pretty nice beginner one http://www.telescope.com/control/product/~category_id=dobsonians/~pcategory=telescopes/~product_id=09182;jsessionid=BF10DBFDC7A2DC1CE49943705D25EC8A.ivprod1 but the thing is i dont think it comes with a tripod and thats what i need so i can take it outside, and also i dont know if you can even hook one up to it because it has that motor attached to he bottom to control the "object locator" any ideas or tips?
You made an excellent choice. This telescope does not need a tripod. The picture that you sent with the price of 379.95 does NOT have the object locator with it. (W/O = with/out) That is an optional piece of equipment. It is nice to have but not necessary. Also remember that is all it does---locates the object for you. It doesn't do tracking. Many people make that mistake. There is also a new gadget out there somewhere called setting circles that basically does the same thing for less money.
The reason this doesn't need a tripod is because this is a Dobsonian Mount. The thing you see it sitting on is the mount. This is basically a push-to scope and one of the easiest to use for beginners.
I would like to recomend that you get some type of collimation device. You can get laser types---go for the deluxe model if you go that way. You will need to collimate this scope when you use it. That means that you need to fine tune the allignment of the mirrors.
I also STRONGLY recomend that you join a local astronomy club or astronomical society in your area. You will meet a lot of really nice freinds that will be able to help you out in the field to get the very most out of your new scope. They will be able to answer all of your questions and show you lots of treasures in the night sky. You will be able to go to their star parties and monthly meetings and they have lending libraries and loaner scopes and they have a lot of fun.

This is a free download interactive star chart that is VERY helpful. I use it all the time. Just tell it where you are and it will tell you what you see.
I wish you the very best with your new scope! Enjoy!
