Bodum Ceylon 51-Ounce Iced Tea Maker with Removable Infuser and Bonus Tea Sample Bodum Ceylon 51-Ounce Iced Tea Maker with Removable Infuser and Bonus Tea Sample

List Price: $27.00

Description

Bodum, renowned for its classy coffee presses, also produces an exciting range of options for tea drinkers, including this Ceylon iced tea maker. Looking like a popular filtered water pitcher, the slim, oval-shaped Ceylon features a straining lid, sturdy handle, and, most importantly, a removable infuser that holds loose or bagged tea, as well as fruit or vegetable slices for making infused water or wine. Because the plastic pitcher is transparent, contents and strength are quickly viewed. The Ceylon holds approximately 50 ounces (1.7 liters) and is designed to fit compactly into a refrigerator shelf or door. To brew iced tea, Bodum recommends placing seven tablespoons of loose tea into the infuser, then filling halfway with nearly-boiling water. After steeping for three to five minutes, remove the infuser to stop the brewing process. Fill the rest of the pitcher with cold water or ice cubes. Or, add only cold water to the same amount of loose tea, and brew in the refrigerator for 12 hours. To make infused water (or wine, for sangria), place slices of lemon, lime, cucumber, strawberries, fresh peeled ginger, or even sprigs of lavender into the infusing chamber, fill with ice cubes and cold water, and serve after approximately five minutes. Easy to use and resulting in healthy drinks, the Ceylon is made of SAN plastic that will not absorb odors or colors. Bodum recommends washing the pitcher and infuser by hand, and includes a free sample of Ginger Peach tea from the Republic of Tea brand for your drinking pleasure. --Ann Bieri

The Ceylon iced tea jug from Bodum combines fashion with functionality. To use, simply add the appropriate amount of your favorite loose-leaf tea into the filter (also works with tea bags). The Ceylon works with both hot & cold brewing methods. The durable SAN plastic will not hold flavors allowing you to brew different teas without affecting the taste. Hand washing recommended. Nature itself provides the most delightful tastes, and tea is one of them. Making ice tea in a natural way is fun and easy. You can experiment with your own tea blends and mixtures. The Bodum Ceylon Ice Tea Maker is simple and fun to use. The Ceylon doubles as a water infusing pitcher. For refreshing infused water, just add your favorite fruit or vegetable into the infuser chamber. Fill with ice and add water. Solar Water Purification Inventions, What is new and exciting

With unpredictable weather in the world, there are purification inventions being developed so you can get safe water supply and health. Things like the New Orleans hurricane and other natural disasters have left areas in devastation. No food or drinking water, however a new solar water purification invention has been shown to help survivors with clean water. Ensure that water disinfected drinking is good. This is a small device uses the sun's ultraviolet rays to quickly clean water supply.

Is cleaned water supply so you can stay safe and so cheap. The rays kill bacteria and harmful viruses that can remain in the water. Others will avoid cholera typhoid, dysentery and other diseases that can seriously harm or death. This invention affecting thousands of people. It could be used to help clean sources their daily consumption, however, was made for emergencies. Depending on the type you receive, you may not even have to worry about making electricity use them because some depend on gravity for water flow.

This is a great development in water purifiers because they are able to use natural resources land. It will end water purification naturally and safely. This method is usually used by third world countries because it is also very cheap to use and it works very well when it comes to giving the best quality water. For more information see http://www.ewatertreatmentsystems.com/watertreatment/Buy_water_treatment_online.html

Although now is not going to help those with a major chemical contamination, but can be used to help filter the water of dirt and soil particles. For the moment, are focusing on everyday pollution that may occur, not those caused by disasters. You can expect to see further improvements to the system purification of solar energy and will be able to purify all water pollution discharges and important.

Right now, there are laboratories working on improving their devices and making them able to perform work as New Orleans. You can find out more about solar water purification by searching complete line. This is perhaps the method that could help improve their water system and water quality. This great start to something that will help everyone and the environment through of disasters and spills.

Meade RB-70 filters?

Hello, I have a 700 mm RB-70 Telescope Meade and wanted to put sunscreen on the scope to see the sun, but do not know if this scope can use a sunscreen or not? Are sunscreens specific for telescopes telescope is true or universal as, for example, one eye? Thank you and if there is one that is out there for this telescope, please send the link. Thank you. Does Meade telescopes even allow sunscreens?

The only type of sunscreen that is safe is the kind that fits over the front of the telescope. To find out what size you need, you will have to measure the outside diameter of the front of your telescope. The best sunscreen I have found are those by Kendrick: http://www.kendrickastro.com/astro/solarfilters.html BaaderFilters # I do not recommend the projection method, since it concentrates an enormous amount of heat in the eyepiece. From eye many today are made of plastic, there is the risk of melting or catching fire to his eye. The concentrated beam of sunlight coming out of the eye is hot enough to light a cigarette.

Description

Fallene Cotz SPF 58 is a mineral-based sunscreen that utilizes ultra-micronized titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, and iron oxide for effective protection from the sun's harmful rays. Cotz is dye-, oil-, PABA- and fragrance-free, offering full-spectrum protection without any "chemical sunscreen" ingredients. This product is ideal for light-sensitive and pediatric uses, but it is also an excellent sunscreen choice for just about anyone with sensitive skin. In addition, this sunscreen offers significant water-resistant properties, which makes it an ideal choice for active people and outdoor activities. Cotz SPF 58 will leave your skin soft, smooth, and, most importantly, protected from harmful UVA and UVB rays. .caption { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } ul.indent { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: 20px; } table.callout { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, serif; margin: 10px; width: 250; } td.callout { height: 100 percent; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding: 10px; width: 250px; } ul.callout { list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -12px; font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em; } h5.callout { text-align: center; } The Cotz SPF 58 sunscreen offers: Full-spectrum sun protection. Combined multiple particle sizes of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and iron oxide. Special formula that is perfect for photo-sensitive individuals. Fallene Cotz SPF 58 sunscreen combines multiple particle sizes of titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and iron oxide to offer excellent full-spectrum protection. The Full-Spectrum Sun Protection Fallene, Ltd. produces the most complete full spectrum sun protection available. Cotz SPF 58, Lipcotz SPF 45, Clear SPF 65, and Tinted SPF 60, all combine multiple particle sizes of micronized titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and iron oxide to form a complete barrier from the light spectrum, including UVA/UVB. The Cotz SPF 58, as well as the other Fallene products, are specially designed for photo-sensitive individuals, but are perfect for anyone concerned about maintaining healthy skin and promoting the integrity of their immune system. The Dangers of UVB Wavelengths SPF rating does not adequately measure protection from all the damaging radiation effects of light. SPF is only a determination of protection from one specific wavelength of ultraviolet radiation, the UVB (290nm - 320nm). Unfortunately, there is no currently approved standard to rate the quality of a sunscreen's UVA protective capabilities. UVA (320nm - 400nm) is the deeper penetrating wavelength that is more often associated with skin changes, such as wrinkling, pigmentation, and long term damage. The SPF rating system does not accurately or completely define a sunscreen's protective capabilities from harmful ultraviolet radiation, except the UVB wavelength. UVB creates a red, painful irritation first experienced during early sun exposure, but UVB is not the only ultraviolet wavelength damaging to the skin. In fact, UVB has only a minimal effect upon the deeper depth of skin. UVB and UVA radiation are both recognized as causing skin cancer, and SPF 30 protection is just not enough. Direct Physical Photoblockers Benefits Most of the physical photoblockers are naturally occurring metal compounds (iron, chromium, zinc, titanium, etc), although some, such as bismuth, are man-made. In addition to their photo-protective attributes, these substances also assist in preventing windburns and skin damage from wind-driven micro-particles, such as dirt and grime. These physical blockers also offer a substantial defense against infrared rays in two ways. Winter, spring, summer or fall -- no matter what the season, Lipcotz SPF 45 protects your skin from harmful rays. Minimize wrinkling, skin-damage, and photo-aging with Fallene sun-protection products. First, particles that are large enough to be seen, i.e. the reflect visible light, will also reflect and refract infrared waves that are the most harmful to the skin (760nm - 1,800nm). Second, regardless of particle size, these metal-based materials act as a "heat sink" and thereby reduce the heat effect on the skin. Titanium Dioxide: Absorbs Light and Protects Skin This white-pigment powder is widely used in cosmetics. Products containing large-particle titanium have a greater opacity, which means they have greater lightening or whitening qualities. Opaque titanium dioxide is highly reflective and strongly scatters all UV and visible rays. It also reflects much of the skin-damaging infrared waves, keeping skin cooler and reducing "heat" damage that causes unwanted photo-aging. To photo-stabilize titanium dioxide it must be micro-coated with a protectant, such as silicone or aluminum oxide. Since titanium dioxide spreads poorly on the skin, another way to inhibit its breakdown is to incorporate titanium dioxide with other blockers. To achieve cosmetic elegance and usefulness, microcoating the titanium dioxide assures a good, even application to the skin. A downside of large-particle titanium dioxide products is that they produce a white, opaque appearance on the skin when applied. However, submicronizing the titanium dioxide powder, as Fallene does, creates small particles that absorb visible light and protect the skin, but they're still invisible on the skin, so you're not covered in embarrassing white salve. Transparent (sub-micronized) titanium dioxide works by absorbing, reflecting and scattering UVB and some UVA rays. However, protection against UV, visible and infrared is significantly limited when submicronized titanium dioxide is the primary protectant. Zinc Oxide: Extends Photo-Protection Zinc Oxide has been known and used topically for centuries as a skin protectant and wound-healing adjuvant and is also recognized as a mild antimicrobial agent. More than 50 years ago, zinc oxide was indicated as a block for ultraviolet light (UVB/UVA). It also reflects infrared from the skin, as does titanium dioxide. However, its ability to protect in the long UVA range (300nn - 400nm) is much higher than titanium dioxide. Zinc oxide absorbs, rather than scatters, most UVA, while titanium dioxide primarily scatters these wavelengths. Thus, formulated in combination with titanium dioxide, ultra-fine zinc oxide "closes the window" in the UVA range. Zinc oxide works to both complement titanium dioxide's protection and extend photo-protection to the skin where titanium dioxide is insufficient. The optimal particle size range for ultraviolet blocking zinc oxide (without blocking visible wavelengths) is approximately 80 to 150 nanometers (1,000 nanometers = 1 micron). Iron Oxides: Adds Color and Complements Primary UV Blocking Agents Iron oxide is used in a wide array of cosmetics to provide cover-up color. Cosmetic iron oxides are manufactured to a high purity, desired color and particle size. Iron oxide pigments for cosmetic use are micronized powders. They are available in a number of shades and tones of red, yellow, black and brown. These cosmetic pigments, if incorporated at adequate concentration and properly dispersed, not only add color, but they also provide significant skin protection from multiple wavelengths of light. Ultra-submicronized iron oxides protect against visible light waves, but also add a little color to the finished product. This allows for the addition of higher levels of infrared protecting iron oxides, while retaining the cosmetic elegance and shade of the final preparation. Submicronized iron oxides block ultraviolet rays, which is a great complement to the primary UV blocking agents. What's in the Box Fallene Cotz SPF 58 water-resistant sunscreen tube (2.5-ounces).

Ultra sensitive skin? No need to hide inside. Many dermatologists recommend COTZ Sunscreen, the most protective sunscreen available for people with skin conditions and extreme sun sensitivity, even kids. Fallene COTZ SPF 58 Sunscreen delivers broad spectrum coverage through finely micronized titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. And because it's an oil free SPF product, made without dyes, fragrance, or chemical sunscreen filters, it won't irritate skin.

Using Bionoculars For Stargazing

Celestial observation is also possible with the use of binoculars. Who says that only telescopes can do the trick? Binoculars utilize the same technology that telescopes were built on; but it takes a particular knack to be able to use binoculars effectively for stargazing. What types of benefits are we looking at with the use of binoculars to observe the beauty and mystery of the heavens?

First and foremost, binoculars are really less expensive than telescopes. We're talking about significant figures here. While telescopes can run up the bill, binoculars in general come in lower price ranges; something that would be of benefit to you especially if you are planning of buying one for your kids while the telescope is not yet immediately practicable for purchase.

Binoculars also offer a certain degree of ease with the budding scientist or budding amateur astronomer. Binoculars are mostly lightweight, and can be put in a backpack or similar carrying cases for easy trips to and fro. That would be a plus especially if your kid is a Boy Scout trying to earn his Astronomy merit badge.

Aside from the ease of use, binoculars also offer another dimension of ease and comfort- you don't have to continually assemble it in between your stargazing trips. As was said before, you can just put it away in a bag, and you're done. Telescopes, especially those with motorized telescopic mounts, can be hard on the arms and hands, especially if you plan on taking them to mountain clearings or similar places where the clouds are thin and the stars are brighter.

Now, let it not be said that binoculars only provide ease of use to the person who chooses to utilize it for the purpose of stargazing. One of the pros of starting out with binoculars is that it offers, really, a wide perspective of the celestial heavens, which would be encouraging and enjoyable for the person who is stargazing. If you're not yet particularly interested in tracking particular phenomena, then a vista of celestial orbits would certainly be a continual treat. What if you want to watch meteor showers or comets falling from space? No problem. Binoculars provide a spectacular view of these phenomena, and again, the wide perspective is at work here. What if you have a telescope, too? You don't have to abandon good old binoculars even if you have a snazzy new telescope; these two devices can compliment each other in your astronomical sojourns.

What stuff can you bring so that your binocular stargazing would be a blast? First, you may think of buying a tripod for that nice pair of binoculars you own, since it would also help in your stargazing. If you are not very adept yet in spotting what needs to be spotted, then you can bring along a book that tells you quickly what to look for in the sky. You may also bring along a pad or a note book so you can jot down descriptions, dates and times.

Photography question..?

Hi i am very experienced in photography, but i wanted to get into taking stars.

I do not own a telescope, but i was wondering if there was such sort of tripod or machine that will counteract the earths rotation with very long exposures

What you need is called an equatorial mount.

You can find a comprehensive list of tripods with equatorial mounts and just equatorial mounts at

Description

Celestron and ;s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. Each SkyMaster model features high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. Celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions. The 15x70 version is one of the most popular models in the series. It offers serious large aperture light gathering in an affordable and reasonably lightweight configuration.

Binoculars come in a wide range of shapes and sizes these days, and an even wider range of prices. It's easy to spend less than $100 or more than $500 for what may appear to be, at least outwardly, comparable models. While they may look the same, they are probably quite different on the inside. Recently, the binocular market has seen a flood of giant binoculars at prices that were unheard of just a few years ago. In general, giant binoculars are defined as those that magnify the view 10 times or more and have 70-mm or larger front (objective) lenses. It used to be that the least expensive giant binoculars cost in excess of $150, even $200. All that changed not long ago, when the bottom fell out of the price cellar. Now, several companies import giant binoculars that sell for half that, or less. Celestron's 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars are one of the leaders in the low-price giant binocular arena. They certainly sound good on paper. The SkyMasters include multicoated optics and BaK-4 internal prisms, two features that promise brighter, better images, and key points to look for when judging a pair of binoculars. They also come with an adapter for attaching them to a photo tripod, which is a must to use them to their fullest, and a soft carrying case. But just because they are cheap doesn't always mean they are worth the price. Would it be better to save up for a more expensive pair? To find the answer, I had an opportunity recently to judge the SkyMasters against a pair of Fujinon 16x70 FMT-SX binoculars , one of the finest pairs of giant binoculars sold today. Like the SkyMasters, the Fujinons feature BaK-4 prisms, but also have fully multicoated optics. As a general rule, superior coatings mean superior image sharpness and contrast. But then, that should be expected, given that the Fujinons cost many times more than the Celestrons. While the Fujinons were clearly the better performer, the Celestron SkyMasters held up admirably. Image brightness, quality, and contrast were all remarkable considering their bargain price. Although images were a little soft across the outer 25% of the Celestron's field, the overall view was impressive nonetheless. Some inexpensive binoculars have very sloppy focusing, causing the eyepieces to tilt and shift. Not so with the SkyMasters. I found that their center-focusing mechanism worked smoothly, with no apparently backlash or wobble. Eye relief (the distance you hold your eyes away from the eyepieces to see the full field) is stated to be 18 mm, a good distance for higher power binoculars and an important consideration if you must wear glasses when viewing. The SkyMasters are also light enough to support by hand for short periods of time, although buyers would be well advised to mount them on a sturdy photo tripod. The bottom line is, if you are considering a pair of giant binoculars, whether for bird watching, stargazing, or another recreational use, and have a limited budget, Celestron's giant 15x70 SkyMasters represent an excellent value. --Phil Harrington, author of Star Ware and Star Watch Pros: Exceptional value for the price Light enough to support by hand BaK-4 prisms Multicoated optics Cons: Outer 25% of the field is soft and a little blurry Requires a tripod to use for extended periods

Features

  • Multi-coated optics
  • Large aperture perfect for low light conditions and stargazing
  • Tripod adapter
  • 13 mm (0.51 in) long eye relief ideal for eyeglass wearers
  • Diopter adjustment for fine focusing

Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescope Orion SpaceProbe 3 Altazimuth Reflector Telescope

Sale Price: $99.99

Description

Orion's surprising little Spaceprobe 3 has been picked by independent reviewers as one of the best telescopes in its price class. Unlike similar telescopes seen in discount stores, Orion has refined the Spaceprobe 3 by paying attention to the little details, and that make this telescope a great value. The Spaceprobe 3 comes with an unusually complete set of accessories. The package includes two very good Explorer II eyepieces (25mm and 10mm), an adjustable altazimuth tripod, a good red-dot finder, a student edition of "The Sky" planetarium program, and a well written manual. The package even includes the tools you'll need to assemble the telescope and align the optics. The Spaceprobe 3 is a Newtonian reflector. That means it uses mirrors instead of lenses. Newtonians are primarily used for astronomy because the images are upside-down. Orion includes a collimation tool and good directions for aligning the mirrors. The reward for aligning the mirrors is seen in images that snap into sharp focus. My Spaceprobe 3 arrived properly aligned right out of the box. With its Explorer II eyepieces, this telescope consistently delivers fine views. Using the 25mm eyepiece (28x magnification) the Pleiades cluster is simply wonderful, showing dozens of stars. From a rural location with a dark sky, the Orion Nebula is a big ghostly glow, and when I zoom in with the 10mm eyepiece, the Trapezium resolves into four tiny pinpoints. The double star Gamma Andromeda becomes two beads of light, one gold, the other one pale blue. Moon and planet images are crisp, with none of the false color I see in low cost refractors. When I look at the Moon I see mountains and terraced walls inside the larger craters. With the 10mm eyepiece (about 70x), Saturn's rings are sharply separated from the planet, and I can even pick out the planet's shadow on the rings. The Altazimuth mount included with this telescope is light and easy to use; it may be the best choice for a young astronomer. If you want motorized tracking of the stars and planets, Orion's Spaceprobe 3 EQ is available with an equatorial mount, and Celestron sells essentially the same optical system with the computerized NexStar 76GT. -Jeff Phillips Pros: Best in class optical performance Two good Explorer II eyepieces Complete accessory package Cons: Small 76mm aperture Upside-down terrestrial images

If you're looking for an affordable entry-level telescope for that beginning astronomy enthusiast, our SpaceProbe 3 Altaz is the perfect choice. Great for all-around stargazing, this highly portable, uncomplicated scope is just the right size and weight for the entire family, and just the right price for parents. This is a quality telescope, with a 3" (76mm) glass primary mirror mounted in a sturdy Neptune Blue Metallic aluminum tube. The rack-and-pinion focuser accepts standard 1.25" eyepieces. Two Explorer II eyepieces, a low-power 25mm (28x) and a high-power 10mm (70x), are included. An EZ Finder II finder scope mounted on the tube helps zero-in on the sky target. The altazimuth mount is lightweight and easy to use. To aim it, simply move it up or down or left or right. An adjustable, aluminum tripod with accessory tray is also included. One-year limited warranty.

Features

  • A fantastic beginner telescope that's lightweight.
  • 76mm aperture reflector telescope is large enough for wonderful views of the Moon.
  • The included EZ Finder II makes finding celestial objects a breeze.
  • Includes two 1.25" telescope eyepieces, EZ Finder II reflex sight, smooth rack and pinion focuser.

Description

This tried-and-true refractor goes the extra distance in introducing the novice to the wonders of the night sky. The Observer 70 features a 70mm fully anti-reflection coated achromatic objective lens, which provides 36% more light-gathering ability than a 60mm. Its 700mm focal length (f/10) will show you the stark beauty of the lunar surface, Saturn's rings, Jupiter's atmospheric belts, or the billowy clouds of the Orion Nebula. The included EQ-1 equatorial mount comes equipped with dual slow-motion controls for manual star tracking and adjustable aluminum tripod. Includes an EZ Finder II finder scope to help you zero in on your celestial targets, two eyepieces - 25mm (1.25") and 10mm (1.25") - and 90-deg star diagonal. One year limited warranty.

Orion’s Observer 70 EQ combines the solid optical performance of a classic achromatic refractor with a German style equatorial mount. The Observer 70 features very good optics and 36 percent more light gathering power than 60mm beginner scopes. The complete accessory package includes high and low power eyepieces, a 90 degree star diagonal, a red-dot finder, illustrated instructions, and Orion‘s Starry Night Special Edition astronomy software. The Observer 70 EQ features very good optical performance. Achromatic refractors have a two piece objective lens, the second lens element compensates for “chromatic aberration”, the false color or blue fringes seen in low cost telescopes. In daylight tests I see very little blue fringing with the standard equipment 10mm eyepiece (70X magnification), and none at all with the 25mm eyepiece (28X). Stars and planets show up very nicely with the Observer 70. The quadruple star in the Orion Nebula known as the Trapezium is cleanly split into four components with the 10mm eyepiece (70X magnification). When I combine the 10mm eyepiece with a 2X Barlow lens for 140X magnification, I’m treated to lovely views of Saturn’s rings and the little orange disk of Mars. My view of the Moon is delightfully crisp and clear; the 25mm eyepiece nicely frames the Lunar disk, and using the 10mm eyepiece I can easily see mountain peaks and terraced walls inside the crater Copernicus. The Observer 70 EQ also features an aluminum tripod and an EQ-1 equatorial mount. The equatorial mount is a little more complicated to balance and align than the Observer 70 AZ , but the reward is better slow motion control and tracking at magnifications over 100X. Simply point the equatorial axis at Polaris, the North Star, and the telescope tracks celestial objects by turning one slow motion knob. This makes it much easier to use a high power eyepiece while viewing the Moon and Planets. The “EZ Finder II” works by shining a red LED on a small window; just look through the window and line up the red spot with your target. This works OK for bright objects like the Moon and planets but not so well for finding galaxies and deep space objects. Orion’s Observer 70 EQ is simply a very good entry level telescope for a student or family. The good quality 70mm optics produce an image that is significantly sharper and brighter than 60mm beginner scopes, and the package includes a solid mount, two good eyepieces, and fully illustrated instructions. --Jeff Phillips Pros: Reliable refractor design Good views of the Moon and planets Complete accessory package Starry Night software included Cons: Finder only works for bright objects

Features

  • A great entry-level refractor telescope at a very affordable price
  • Reveals detailed views of the Moon and bright planets such as Jupiter and Saturn
