Visual Color Filter
Tips on Oil Painting - the ability to see color
Color is the central component of painting. It's what makes it a unique art form. By It is therefore essential that we develop the ability to see colors as they really are. Here are some tips to help you with this:
* Prejudice - The first step in learning to see the correct color is to get rid of all those embedded in the preconceived notions about color.
The brain (luckily) has the ability to filter the vast amount of visual impulses and often fills the gaps in stylized memories of reality. Unfortunately, stylized color memories are often very wrong.
Therefore, we must learn to approach the observation of each color, as if seen for the first time without prejudice.
* Local Color - Each object has its own color which is sometimes called local color of the object. It is the color of the object when seen in daylight.
* Light - The local color of an object is affected by the light that shines on it. We must realize that all surfaces are to some degree of reflection. In other words, the local color of an object changes when subjected to light and we must be aware of these changes.
For example, suppose we have a perfect red apple. That is, the local color of the whole apple is colored red. When a yellow light shines on this apple sideways we will observe that the lit side takes on a shade of orange and that the side on the side that receives a bias violet is the complement yellow. Note that the complementary color of a color is the color that is in front of him on the color wheel.
* Harmony - A lit scene naturally harmonized. The light that spreads over the scene has the effect of changing all the local colors in such a way that all colors are harmonized (ie simply the colors go together.)
For example, the colors seen in an actual landscape will always be in harmony. This is because the light source (the sun) permeates the scene. This is not the case when you put together an imagined scene in his studio. In fact, it takes a little knowledge of color theory to produce a harmonious picture.
* Nomenclature - There is also the question of nomenclature. People tend to use special names for certain colors like lime green, blue, etc. This is not the best way to go about describing colors.
A better way is to start with the names of the three primary colors: red, yellow and blue. Add to these names of the three secondary colors: orange, green and violet.
Then, a color that looks like red, but orange bias is called orange-red. A color is clearly yellow but has a green tint is called green-yellow. Or, a green that has more yellow than blue is called a yellow-green. And so on.
Tertiary colors often have a clearly secondary to a bit of a third color added. For example, we can speak of an orange-red a touch of blue or white.
This way of thinking about color also helps us with the observation of color. When you see a color that can start by identifying all primary color. Then you can try to judge whether there is a primary color bias. And finally, you can try to assess whether there are touches of additional colors visible in the mixture.
At the same time, this approach also gives a methodical approach to color mixing that is observed in its palette.
In the end, as is the case both in painting, learning to observe colors correctly is a matter of practice and experience. The above guidelines, however, should help this effort.

Aquarium expert help, please?
We have a 35 gallon tank that has a large filter and aerator in it. It was perfectly fine for three months, but for some reason this months water is turning green. I can change it out completely and will remain clear for a whole three days and then right back to color change. The filter is clean, I changed the charcoal and rocks, to no avail. No Alge visual reality on the walls of the tank, or plants Plastic inside, everything looks clean, but the water is terrible! Help, I'm new to this and I tried everything that happens to get it back to clear and beautiful!
Oh, I bought some clear Alge treatment, when I put it in the water in the tank was clear for a whole three hours and then went back to green water. AAGGH!
sure isn't your tank in direct sunlight. move the tank away from windows to a darker side of the room and only has 12 hours to the lighting in a day. check value of all water parameters to ensure that there is no excess of dissolved nutrients in plants water.adding some greedy for the deposit can help taking nitrates from water and starve the Alge out. tap water can sometimes contain large amounts of nitrate and Alge is used as a food source and prosper. although its use more common problems in ponds with Alge, you could try adding barley straw to filter system, if you have space. it also depletes nutrients in the water as breaks down and not make the fish any probs.
