Glasses may interfere with the use of binoculars

Close focus is just how close you can reach the object being viewed before it goes out-of-focus. binoculars largest have close focus on the order of 15 to 20 feet or more. This means that any object seen with these binoculars must be 20 feet away, with order to see it with binoculars. Any object closer than the close focus distance will be out of focus and blurry at all. Binoculars will be smaller a shorter close focus, the order of 15 feet or less.
If you often find in such small objects close up, then the approach is a feature near to keep in mind when selecting your binoculars. Note that the ultimate goal of compact binoculars ranges from 6 feet to 28 feet.
The use of glasses may interfere with the use of binoculars. You have to leave some space for your glasses in the middle of the eyes and the eyepieces of the binoculars or the person who wore glasses, not seeing all the binoculars has to offer. You have to hold the binoculars further from his face when glasses. If you have to hold the binoculars too far, then you will not see the vision overall. Instead, you will see the circle as seen through the binoculars.
The more we explore the characteristics of the prismatic you will find that we must seek a balance done. For example, a prism 8x22 binoculars could have a close focus of 6.6 meters, which is really great to see butterflies, insects and other objects nearby. affordable models often have smaller distances eye relief and 10 mm. Not good enough eyeglass-wearers. This contrasts with the more expensive models that may have eye relief of 20-28 mm. The additional cost is probably worth it for the user of glasses. Compare all the features before you put money for a pair of binoculars. Remember to consider what is going to use the binoculars for your budget, too. The type of differs according binocular lenses and prisms used in them to get the best effect necessary to bring the image closer to the viewer.
Like most advanced visual devices, giant binoculars is also designed for the first time military. These instruments have large objective lenses and can be used efficiently during low light or for that matter in the dark too. They give access to a broader field of binocular view. This rate is much heavier and not recommended for carrying during a walk across the field. Invariably, it is to be mounted on a tripod, while use.Even although it is not suitable for occasional use, is a great tool for star gazers. Some of the astronomy enthusiasts love to use this device instead of the single lens telescope.
A digital camera binocular also combines the functions and features of digital camera and binoculars in the one. They are heavier and bulky and also belong to the top of the rates range. These binoculars prices are very useful at night as well because they have night vision and video capabilities.

This is a good telescope to observe the planets?

http://f1cameras.co.uk/shop.php?id=624 In short, the opening of 90 mm, 900 mm away focal, with equatorial mount and tripod and three eye 1.25. "Oh, I forgot to say that is 230 pounds.

It's not as bad as what most UN-informed selection and ask about, but I think you can do better. ★ I suggest that you join a local astronomy club or Astronomical Society before you spend your money on a real telescope. There are many different types of scopes and what is perfect for one person to another is not perfect. Each one has its own set of eyeballs and no two are alike. If you join a club, you can attend some of their star parties and try out the scope to see what works best for you, before buying a scope. Members also can help you when you get your scope and show you how to maximize its new scope and to help teach where are the treasures in heaven are. Most clubs have given broad scope and Libraries can also get more information. Most clubs will have monthly meetings with informative presentations accession given by members and guest speakers. You can really learn a lot from these clubs and is an added plus to all the great new friends there as well. Go to this site to find a club in your area. This has only http://www.astroleague.org/societies/list clubs belonging to the National League of Astronomy, so there are many more not listed here. Continue searching with Google you do not see one in your area here. There are different types of telescopes and they all have some excellent features. Refractors and reflectors, in addition to Schmidt Cassegrain, APO refractor, Mac-Cass, and many more. There are also several mounts to choose from and the mounts are just as important, if not More importantly, it is the scope. All the different areas and rides have some features that some people like and dislike. ★ No two eyes are the same and the ideal for one person may be completely wrong for another person. ★ There is no scope that is "better" than another, with all areas except garbage out there that are just a waste of money. Never, ever buy from Walmart, Costco, Target, or any store off on. unwanted areas are flooded in the market for shopping. You're buying nothing but bad optics and plastic. You must buy from a manufacturer renowned telescopes or telescope dealer or shop. If they do not specialize in telescopes, look elsewhere. ★ If you are new to this, then stay away from anything from the site uses ANY. If you do not know what they are buying and that you are buying the most likely to receive some other pain --- head without warranty either. Some great deals on used equipment are out there by people who know how to use and care of the fields, but if you do not know what you're doing, you may spend much money on worthless junk. Improper cleaning can destroy a scope. Buyer Beware. I recommend: http://oriontelescopes.com/ Orion is best for the value and the customer service too. I have three of its scope and I'll just buy them from now. My first area reach a controlled manual and I am very happy that it was because I was forced to learn where things stand in the night sky. Go-To scopes type can be frustrating. If you have not lined up exactly perfect, they find the targets. If you are a beginner, you will be frustrated if not for the spring, a GPS Go-To. A locator object is just that --- Will locate objects for you (should be in line first), but a locator object is not a tracking engine. It will not keep the scope on target. The Orion site has some excellent diagrams and explanations of all kinds of areas and media. ★ Things to consider are the size - the user can lift and carry the scope display on the page easily? Does it fit in your car? If not, then will gather dust in a closet. I recommend a carrying case too much about what is protected in storage and transport. Can the viewer reach all the knobs and buttons? I have a long tube large manual refractor and it is very difficult for me to get to the buttons when I said Zenith. I'm not a tall person. Some people try to suggest that you get Binnoculars instead of a telescope. That's not a bad idea, but the minimum size 10x50 needs and must have a tripod for astronomical viewing. Even your pulse will shake. My personal preference is a telescope because Binnoculars must be aligned at the factory. If not, you see double or triple vision of everything that make them useless for astronomy. They can easily be beaten out of the lineup as well, so be careful. ★ Take your time in making your decision. ★ Do not try to learn all than once or you feel overwhelmed and discouraged. Patience is the key to astronomy. ★ You will need a good success also star. Http: / / www.stellarium.org/ This is an excellent freeware which can be downloaded. Help with My telescope?

Hi, about 2 years ago I purchased a Tasco Luminova - 40-060660, and the results... at best were bad, so i put it away and left it till now, but my interest in telescopes has spiked again. But when I brought my telescope out again, I was saddened to find that I only had 3 of its magnifying items, the 1.5, the 2.0 and the 3.3 ones, not exactly the best magnification.
I life near an astronomy store and am willing to pay for new ones, but how should i go about it? My telescope isn't in the best of shape either, and needs to be realigned and such, the dust cleaned out and stuff. Should I just buy a new telescope? here's a couple of pics of it at the moment... http://img22.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=2009051046617.jpg Thanks

I'm sorry to say that your telescope is a very inexpensive one, with a very shaky mount, which will give you nothing but frustration. It also appears that you have lost a couple of the most important parts: the eyepieces and the diagonal. Without these, you won't be able to get an image to look at. I wouldn't recommend spending any money to upgrade or fix this telescope -- it would be better to start from scratch with a good telescope.

Here are a few web pages with good information on beginner's telescopes:

http://www.gaherty.ca/tme/TME0702_Buying_a_Telescope.pdf

http://www.scopereviews.com/begin.html

http://observers.org/beginner/j.r.f.beginner.html

For more advanced information, read Phil Harrington's Star Ware, 4th edition (Wiley).

You'll get the greatest value for your money with a Newtonian reflector on a Dobsonian mount, such as these:

Buy from a store which specializes in telescopes and astronomy, either locally or online; don't buy from department stores, discount stores or eBay as mostly what they sell is junk. Find your local astronomy club and try out different telescopes at one of their star parties:

Uses For A Telescope Camera

You can find many uses for a telescope camera, if you look far enough. Indeed, telescopes themselves have been around for a long time, shedding light on the mysteries that are above us. For years and years, people have been using telescopes to record the night sky. In the past, this recording was done with a pen and paper, and people would draw what they saw and compare with others.

Now, of course, we have telescope cameras which allow us to do much better. With telescope cameras you are going to be able to not only look at what you are seeing in the sky, but also take a picture of it. This is very important, because you can take photos of the night sky and you can use a computer to put these files somewhere that they can be recorded, and checked against what has been seen in the past. You can upload the photos that you have taken of the night sky and put them into a grid where the usual stars are shown, and by this you can find out when the picture was taken and from where.

Uses

One of the main uses of a telescope camera is simply to learn. By taking photos of what we can see in the night sky, we can go back and study these at a later time. There is only so much studying you can do when you are looking through a lens at the stars. There is often not very much light where you are, and it is hard to interpret what you are seeing. Also, if you have a question about something, it is hard to ask because your lens is going to be full of different things, and the person you are asking might not know to what you are referring when you ask them.

So, you can take a telescope camera and use it to take a picture that you can use later. When you have this picture, you can study it to your hearts content, and you can also find people to ask questions to about what is in your picture. You can check it against many things and figure out what it is that you are looking at. Having a camera that is on your telescope is going to be something that you find most enjoyable, and something that you can use for many years to come.

How is looking through a telescope into the night sky is like looking back in time?

A telescope (or even our eyes), catch light rays to make pictures. Space is a vast region and light is the fastest and the only thing, known to human, that covers ALMOST whole of the Universe. When you peer at a galaxy, ten thousand light years away, then it means that you are looking at a galaxy from which light takes ten thousand years to reach Earth. And this means, you are looking at the galaxy not in its present form but in the form that it was almost ten thousand years ago!
Lemme give you one more example. If the Sun has sunspots, and you r looking at it, then you are looking at their situation eight minutes ago. Coz they are on a star which is eight light minutes from us :-)

Telescope Eyepiece Red

Why can't I see anything through my telescope?

I have a Bushnell North Star "Go To" telescope. I got it yesterday. I assembled it and then took it outside to search the night's sky. Although, I couldn't see anything! Every time I align the red dot with the celestial object, for example, the moon, I look through the eyepiece(20mm) and see total darkness. It says something about looking through the main telescope tube in the instruction manual, although I don't see why I would....I see nothing in it as well. The instruction booklet is very poorly written. I don't see what I'm doing wrong here. I took the 20mm eyepiece out of it's 2 plastic tubes and removed the protective thing off the main telescope tube. Am I missing something here?????
Oh, and earlier today (during day) I looked through my eyepiece when I had the red dot finder scope thing pointed at a tree, and I was able to see the tree clarified and zoomed in on my eyepiece like it's supposed to be. However when I looked through it tonight, I got zip, nothing, nada.

Sounds as though the sighter scope is not correctly aligned with the main telescope.
The reason the instructions ask you to look through the main tube, is to confirm that the image you see in the sighter scope, is the same image in the main telescope.
Generally, the sighter scope has 3 small screws that you have to carefully adjust, so that it aligns with an objecgt correctly.
You have to repeat the adjusting exercise a few times (sighter, then telescope, then sighter, then telescope etc) a few times to get the alignment correct.

Secondly, lining up celestial objects is harder to do than lining up terrestrial ones such as a tree; this is because the margin for alignment error is greater in the former case, and will continue to be the case until you line up the sighter with the telescope correctly.

Repeat the exercise with the tree, tonight, and sweep toward a really bright object such as the moon or Venus (not sure of your location, so maybe the moon is your best shot)

Be patient, and enjoy :-)

Tasco 40060675 Luminova 675 x 60mm Telescope Tasco 40060675 Luminova 675 x 60mm Telescope
List Price: $139.99

Tasco's Luminova 675 is an affordable 60mm refractor telescope on a lightweight equatorial mount. The complete accessory package includes three 1.25" eyepieces (H25, H12.5, and SR4), a mirror diagonal, a moon filter, a solar projection screen, and even a program disk that turns your computer into a desktop planetarium...

Experiences with Tasco Luminova telescopes?

I just ordered a Tasco Luminova 675x60mm Refractor EQ telescope. I wanted to remain under $100. I'm just a beginner, and basically want to view the planets and moon. Did I make a good choice with this scope?

As someone else already said, *never* buy a telescope that markets itself primarily based on magnification. This is a sure sign that not only is the manufacturer playing on common assumption, but also that the scope itself is probably junk.

That said, I used--and still use--such a telescope that I got for a present as a kid. If you treat it well, it will work well enough. A few pointers, though:

1.) Do not use the telescope above about 120x.
2.) The tripod will almost certainly be jittery in the slightest wind; you may want to weigh it down with something.
3.) Don't use the Barlow. You should probably ditch the eyepieces as well, which I'm guessing are cheesy Ramsdens or Huygenians; even mine at least came with a decent Kellner. If you see an "SR", "R", or "H" symbol on the eyepieces, save your strength--order a few basic eyepieces from a reputable dealer (Orion, Meade, Celestron, etc.), perhaps with an adapter as well, from .965 to 1.25 for a better field of view.

Unfortunately, ordering this extra equipment will put you well above $100, making it almost worth returning the scope and buying a more expensive one. I leave that judgment to you, though--as someone else already wrote, this telescope could at least whet your appetite for something better.

I'm sorry I can't be cheerier, but good luck. For what it's worth, there are a few excellent, but relatively cheap scopes that can be had from Orion for $200 and under, namely their XT 4.5, which has had nothing but stellar reviews.

I am new to this so all I want to see right now is the moon and a few planets and maybe a few galaxsees I dont want to get a that costs over 500 dollars yet seeing how I am new to this and might be a bad idea, because I wonld not know how to use it yet.

What would be a good telescope for a beingner

Here's what is sold in my town

Telescope Buyers Guide - Do You Really Need A Telescope?

Often we will think that to get into astronomy, you need a telescope. However, this is not true; you also don't need a telescope to get the most out of astronomy. Though a telescope is great, there is a lot you can do without a telescope. In this article, you will discover how you can get into astronomy now!

The biggest way to get into astronomy, without the need for an expensive telescope, is to look at the stars naturally, with the naked eye. Though this may not seem appealing, especially when you have a thirst for a big telescope that can show you the best views of the Jupiter, and other planets, and deep space objects.

The truth is that you will need to know where to look. And here is where people can get stuck. A telescope looks like the best option, however, when you hardly know where objects are in the night sky, and then you can easily find yourself in a position, where you have a great telescope, but don't know much about the objects in the sky.

People, who have been fortunate to have learned the constellations, and other pointers in the night sky, have found more success when they purchased a telescope. This may not be apparent at first, however, it is one that makes or breaks a hobby in the science of astronomy.

All this need not be difficult. Learning the constellations can be done with a bit of research, a star map, and looking outside at night. The result of this effort is immense, because when you do finally buy a telescope, you will know one of the most important things that any traveler will need to know, and that is navigation.

People who have been fortunate to learn a lot about space before buying a telescope, have found a much better hobby when they did buy a telescope. The person immediately knows where Orion is, where Scorpio is, and from there can likely find objects in space much more easily.

A step up from simply observing the heavens with the naked eye is to buy a pair of binoculars. Though this is not essential, it can transform an astronomy hobby into something more. You may even have a pair of binoculars and never considered to look at the night sky to see amazing detail.

Binoculars used for astronomy doesn't seem like an obvious thing to do. However, there are some great benefits to using binoculars for astronomy. Consider for a moment ease, and compactness. And the ability to take binoculars everywhere, you can see why astronomers love binoculars.

A good pair of binoculars may not show you as much detail as a telescope, but they can be great for seeing groups of objects in a more 3 dimensional look. The Moon is a good candidate for binoculars, as you can see so much detail, even though binoculars don't have as much magnification as a telescope.

Article from Sky & Telescope magazine?

I'm supposed to do a project over spring break on the article "Dark Matter Seen At Last?" (cover storty of the April 2009 issue) in the astronomy magazine Sky & Telescope. The author is Govert Schilling. However, I'm having trouble locating the article online. I'd prefer to not have to subscribe to the magazine, which is what skyandtelescope.com wants me to do to get access to this article... I only need the one article and I'll probably never look at the magazine again, so it's not worth buying a whole subscription.

If anyone knows somewhere I can view this article, that'd be great. I've tried torrent already and the download isn't compatible with my computer, so preferably a place a don't have to download anything would be nice...
Thank you! :)

Boarders and Barnes and Noble both carry the magazine. You can buy just the one issue. Hastings carries it too. You could even get together with a classmate or two to share the cost.
