All About Using Exhibition Equipment

People can often get confused exhibition team, maybe they are new to the creation of an exhibition and are not familiar with its operation. Things like banner stands, raise flags, pop-up displays, light boxes, digital displays and many display more, are just a couple of things necessary for the placement of an impressive installation in any exhibition. These are so used to represent the company and used as a way of drawing public attention.

Most of this equipment are available at low cost and can be contracted from virtually all occupational exposure of the screen. Almost all equipment is easy to assemble and require only one person who created them. Some people may not knowing the difference between raising banners and pop-up stands. The easiest way to describe what the differences is the way it is set up / set up and how graphics display banners.

Pull up banners stands are self-giving full effect when placed vertically on the screen. They work by taking the graphic or banner at the bottom of the panel, which is then connected to a telescopic bar at the top. This is self-sufficient, because the force is removed, which is hooked one end other. They look like a thin, almost like a strip of wallpaper, which is always a digitally designed screen graphics.

Most banners pull-up is about 2 meters high and about 1 meter wide, making it a very versatile piece of equipment. They can be used for business sales, presentation sales, major exhibitions, exhibition pieces for businesses, hospitals, shopping malls and more. If portability is a problem, raise the banners are ideal for people to use if you need to transport from one place to another. In cases like these, it is important to purchase flags that are light in weight and with a protective case.

Pop-up is being rebuilt and cut into its framework. They often have separate parts to maintain consistent positions. They can be large in size and generally act as the main piece of computer to display the company brand and draw public attention to the speakers. They can be in the form of towers, curved or L-shaped. Flat screens can incorporate pop-ups LCD screens and a lot of extra posters and displays.

Both are good to attract the right kind of attention and are just as effective by itself alone. The idea of an exhibition to show the company and its services, bringing in more business and showing your brand. It is therefore important to know what speakers to use when organizing a large event.

How to capture the light of the human eye compared with that of a 50mm (2inch) small telescope objective?

what is the area to capture light of a 2 inch wide.

You do this, the amount of light collected depends on the area of opening (the hole that lets light into the telescope, the eyes or anything else). The area varies with the square of the diameter for a circle, which can be both an opening of the telescope and seen the human eye. 50 mm is the size of that diameter. Now, find the average diameter of the pupil of the eye, or eye opening in millimeters (do not know what it is). Call it a mm, just to show how. Take the difference, in this case is 50-1 = 49. Square that number, and that's the difference in the ability to gather light. So in that case, we get (49) 2 ^ more light gathered by the telescope that you make with your eye. I hope this helps

Telescope Great

Telescope Great

How I can find all the Messier objects in my Orion SkyQuest XT10? Is it a good telescope? ?

Should I buy a new telescope? I would be able to see all kinds of things, nothing so far. I have to learn all 88 cons ... I really want to see all the Messier objects and know I'm a player, when I find one .. And why I can not see the big red spot on Jupiter? Sorry I have a telescope or something?

My XT10 is impressive. Me took about two years to detect all Messier objects. You only need to learn the 88 constellations if you live in Ecuador. No need to learn Centaurus because is never above my southern horizon. I did not even know existed if it was not something interesting there - the closest star to us other than the Sun Point Red is really white at this time. Sky & Telescope has a page on your site prediction for where to look. I only recently saw my first XT10 time. The night was particularly stable. To be honest, I do not often study Jupiter. But I was watching someone who does, and pointed out. It was not at all what I could have searched. She has not been set by its 14.5 "- it takes too long. But it is only 2-3 for the XT10. Another reason for the XT10 is a big margin. Jupiter rotates once about 10 hours. The red dot is centered maybe an hour or two at a time. I have also seen in my XT10 Pluto. You need a great form of success. And then, as it is only a point, you really need to draw what you see, and check back another night to see it move. Check out a local club. Observe others with some experience. Everyone has something to teach.

Kennedy Space Center: A destination for visitors to Orlando

There's plenty on offer in Orlando and can not see everything in one holiday without But there is an attraction not to be missed when you are in this region, and that is the Kennedy Space Center.

While the inventors of the theme parks Orlando used their imagination to conjure up all the special effects and thrill rides, the fascination of the Kennedy Space Center comes from the real achievements of the program space and the opportunity it offers for the future.

The Center has built a huge complex of exhibitions for visitors who combines space simulation rides. The new attraction is the Shuttle Launch Experience, a six-story structure architecture consistent with Space Shuttle facilities at Kennedy Space Center. As crew members ascend along the gantry, the testimonies of veterans of shuttle astronauts share, setting the stage for the experience ahead. Introduction heart the operations of the Space Shuttle pre-launch briefing, crew members are guided by veteran Space Shuttle Commander Charlie Bolden, as he takes you step by step through the shuttle launch sequence. S This is the simulation that gives you a feeling of real experience.

If you want to see real rockets and space vehicles, then you should visit the rocket garden. Here visitors can see the Redstone, Atlas and Titan rockets NASA astronauts launched into space. You can see inside the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo capsules have an idea of the narrowness of U.S. astronauts pioneers endured.

But why settle for just seeing the rockets, where you can also meet an astronaut? Less than 500 men and women - to six billion inhabitants of the Earth - have ever flown in space, but all day at Kennedy Space Center, guests have the rare opportunity to a member the real-life NASA astronauts corps.
Speaking of astronauts, while you are at the Centre can also visit the Monument to the U.S. and astronaut Astronaut Hall of Fame. The monument honors the 24 U.S. astronauts astronaut who gave their lives for space exploration and Hall of Fame combines exhibitions with interactive attractions which give a true taste of space. The G-Force Trainer lets you feel the pressure of four times the force of gravity and you can also experience what it feels like walking on the moon or a ride in a vehicle through the rocky terrain of Mars. You can even try your hand at guiding the space shuttle for a soft landing.

Did you movies like science? Then visit the IMAX ® theater in the Center. The dream of spaceflight comes alive with a wall of sound, five-story screen and realistic 3D special effects. Dramatic footage shot by NASA astronauts during actual missions will make you feel like you're floating right next to them.

If the day comes right, you do not have to watch a movie, you can see the real thing! You can see the shuttle launch satellite launch, or even a deep space probe closely. The space center's website has a calendar of upcoming releases.

If you have any child who is fascinated through space, then the Kennedy Space Center is the place to visit, and if you yourself are enthusiastic about the progress of mankind in space it plans to spend a day here.

If a spacecraft were in deep space between the stars, whould the surface of this ship can freeze?

I see many films like Star Wars, aliens, star trek, etc. .. just to name a few, traveling in deep space from one star to the other. They allways look clean and free of ice, Is this true or if these spacecraft to be covered by a thick layer of ice?, Since they are so far from any heat source. I do not know whether the spacecraft need to generate heat on the side of outside to look like in the movies. I know the space shuttle has to turn toward the sun to keep the shuttle from freezing on the dark side.

The outer surface of the skin of a spacecraft in deep space to be followed by thermodynamics. 1. Heat will be lost due to radiation completely agree with Stefan-Boltzmann Law The total amount of radiation emitted by the spacecraft to its temperature above the temperature of the space (about 3 K - absolute close to zero). E = k T * ^ 4 where: - k = Stefan-Boltzmann constant - T is the temperature difference, and for all practical purposes is the temperature outside of the ship. - NOTE: this assumes that the spacecraft "the skin looks" like a "black body." Other factors that can make this process more or less efficient (To make the spacecraft appear to be more or less like a black body), ie, painting the outside white or black, using metal plates that radiate / absorb only certain wavelengths, etc. 2. Will gain heat generated inside the spacecraft is underway and by convection to the outer skin and skin through the material. If the heat coming from inside is greater than the heat radiated back into space, then the temperature will be greater than the background temperature of space (3 K). Ideally, you want to keep the outside temperature hot enough to keep the metal joints failing (due to the expansion / contraction) but not too hot that you are losing valuable power of any power generation system you have. Sometimes the waste heat generated by electronics is sufficient to maintain the exterior of not getting too cold. Sometimes the waste heat is too much, and should be used efficiently radiating purpose (almost black) radiators. Sometimes the waste heat from electronics and other domestic sources is not enough, so heaters must be used to keep the spacecraft from getting too cold ..

Top 10 Things To Do In Miami

10 Great Things To Do In Miami

Car Rental Miami Airport

1. South Beach Weekend Getaway

Living in Miami, it's sometimes easy to lose sight of all our beautiful city has to offer. When you need a quick vacation, don't forget that South Beach is close to home. While others need to travel the world over to visit the clear blue waters and unique art deco landscape, we can simply take a weekend to rejuvenate in our own backyard! Here's how to make the most of your weekend South Beach get-away. The best time for locals to visit is off-season, May through August. You can get great rates at this time, and the streets and restaurants are quieter. Spring break weeks are the worst time for locals to visit, in March and April.

When you arrive on Friday evening, you can either check in at one of the many large grand hotels on the beach or you can see what the smaller eclectic hotels have to offer. One good bet is the Doubletree Surfcomber Hotel Miami (1717 Collins Avenue) which is within walking distance to almost everything. Their amenities include a data port in each room, two thousand feet of private beach and umbrella/towel service. A very different experience can be found at The Pelican. While still within walking distance to all South Beach attractions, it boasts the coolest choices of rooms anywhere. Each of the thirty rooms are decorated in their own style and named appropriately. If rooms like Flower Power, Big Bamboo, Best Whorehouse or Me Tarzan, You Vain sound appealing, you have to check this hotel out! You also might want to read our reader-selected Top Miami Beach Hotels.

Your best bet for tonight after checking into your hotel is dinner and people-watching on Lincoln Road. Full of stores, boutiques, art galleries, and museums, seven blocks of this ten-block mall have been closed to auto traffic. The unique atmosphere lends to some interesting people showing up, and you never know who you may see!

Most restaurants offer outdoor seating so you can enjoy the ambience and beautiful weather. Whether you feel like Italian (TiramesU Restaurant, Da Leo Trattoria), Cuban (Yuca Restaurant), New World (Pacific Time), or a blues cafe (Van Dyke Cafe), you can find it here on Lincoln Road! Spend the rest of the evening here so you can be refreshed for a full day tomorrow.

2. Miami MetroZoo

Miami MetroZoo is fast becoming one of the best zoos in the nation. Its climate allows it to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa like no other zoo in the country. One of the first free-range zoos in the country, the exhibits are entirely cageless. Animals are grouped according to their geographic territory and animals that live together peacefully in the wild are placed in exhibits together. Other animals in the area are separated by moats. Looking out across the African plains, for example, you see the animals apparently co-mingling much as you would on a safari. The trees, foliage and even soil mimic as closely as possible the native habitat of the animals.

Among the newest members of the zoo are the critically endangered baby addux "Abacus" and a critically endangered baby black rhino. You can also see white tigers, gibbons, Cuban crocodiles and a komodo dragon, as well as the regular lions, tigers and bears. The coolest animal stunt is the painting elephant- a real elephant, armed with a paintbrush and easel, creating a masterpiece!

Visiting Miami MetroZoo
Miami MetroZoo is a beautiful place to spend the day, with or without children. Come see what’s new! The zoo is open 9:30 – 5:30 daily (the ticket booth closes at 4:00) and the cost is $13.95 for adults, $9.95 for children ages 3-12. The zoo is located at 152nd Street and 124th Avenue.

3. Miami Seaquarium

Miami Seaquarium offers visitors an entertaining and educational experience found in very few locations in the United States. Our region’s tropical climate allows for year-round outdoor marine shows featuring dolphins, killer whales and other sea creatures. The Seaquarium also features exhibits of sea turtles, seals, sea lions, and our very own Florida Manatee. Be sure to check the Seaquarium website before you leave home, as the show schedule varies from day to day.

Location
The Seaquarium is located on the Rickenbacker Causeway between Downtown Miami and Key Biscayne. This site offers amazing views of Biscayne Bay and the city of Miami.
Admission
Admission to Miami Seaquarium is $29.95 for adults and $22.95 for children ages 3-9. If you’re planning to visit more than once this year, you can purchase an annual pass for an additional $10 per person.

4. Everglades

With 1.5 million acres of swamps, saw-grass prairies and sub-tropical jungles, Everglades National Park is one of the most unusual public parks in the United States. Located on the southern tip of Florida, the park is home to 14 rare and endangered species, including the American Crocodile, the Florida Panther and the West Indian Manatee. A large portion of the park is primitive, explored only by adventurists and researchers – but visitors have ample opportunity to walk, camp and canoe through the flat and watery park that is also known as “the river of grass.”

Five thousand years ago, the Everglades encompassed much of Florida, from Lake Okeechobee to the Gulf of Mexico.

Evidence of early Native American settlers in the Everglades dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. As Europeans landed in St. Augustine, Florida and moved around the region, other Native American tribes, most notably the Seminoles, fled south into the inhospitable swamp. In the late 1800s, a few rugged settlers founded the village of Flamingo, located at the very tip of Florida (and the end of the swampy Everglades).

By 1934, Congress signed an act that allowed for the creation of a park in South Florida. Initially, the park would encompass 460,000 acres of federal, state and private lands – but over the years, land acquisitions would increase its size. Today, the Everglades is the third largest national park.

President Harry S. Truman dedicated the park in 1947 with these words: "Here are no lofty peaks seeking the sky, no mighty glaciers or rushing streams wearing away the uplifted land. Here is land, tranquil in its quiet beauty, serving not as the source of water, but as the receiver of it. To its natural abundance we owe the spectacular plant and animal life that distinguishes this place from all others in our country."

In 1979, UNESCO declared Everglades National Park a World Heritage Site, for the area’s indigenous history and its diversity of flora and fauna.

Today, Everglades National Park is a protected area; however, it only encompasses one-seventh of the area known as the Everglades. Much of the northern stretches of the swamp are currently threatened by draining and development, and environmentalists warn that if the non-park areas are not protected, the world will lose an important and unique ecosystem.

5. Miami Beaches

Miami’s beaches offer a great opportunity to get some exercise or just enjoy some time in the sun! In this article, I take a look at a few of my favorite beaches, including a couple of lesser-used spots where you’ll be able to avoid the tourist crowd.

South Beach is the quintessential Miami beach experience. It’s the place to see and be seen and show off the product of months in the gym. South Beach isn’t clothing optional, but topless bathing is permitted. My husband loves to run on the paved jogging path that borders South Beach. The beach is located on Ocean Drive, across the street from many of Miami Beach’s famous nightclubs.

Virginia Key Beach is one of the most interesting beaches in South Florida. It’s located right off the Rickenbacker Causeway (on both the north and south sides) near the Miami Seaquarium. The location makes for easy access and some areas become crowded, but there are plenty of secluded spots (such as the one shown in the photo) if you’re willing to explore a bit. Don’t be surprised if you see me when you visit. I love to take my black lab for a walk/swim on the only area beach that allows leashed dogs.

Haulover Beach, located on Miami Beach between Sunny Isles Beach and Bal Harbour, is known around the world as Miami’s only legal "clothing optional" nude beach. If you’re skittish about shedding your swimsuit, never fear. The beach offers traditional sunbathing as well and the nude beach is clearly marked to avoid accidents! Haulover Beach is a fantastic surfing spot.

Bill Baggs State Park, located on the south end of Key Biscayne, is home to the famous Cape Florida lighthouse. The park provides sunbathing, swimming and history in the same spot! You can spend some time on the beach and enjoy a guided tour of the lighthouse. Fishing is also allowed from the seawall. The park also hosts Boater’s Grill, a full service restaurant.

Homestead Bayfront Park is a great option if you’re looking to avoid the tourist scene. Located in the southern portion of Miami Dade County, Bayfront Park offers swimming and boating options with a full-service marina. It’s located at 9698 SW North Canal Drive.

6. Miami Science Museum

9. Monkey Jungle Park and Research Center

"Where the humans are caged and the monkeys run wild" - it's more than a catch-phrase. Monkey Jungle in southern Miami-Dade County is a truly unique park. While homo sapiens walk through carefully constructed wire pathways, many species of primates scamper above your head, swing through trees and interact with each other in ways difficult to observe in captivity. Keep your eyes open; you never know who's hanging around!

Monkey Jungle was started in 1935 when Joseph DuMonds and his wife brought the first six monkeys to this 10-acre plot to observe them living in their natural habitat. He chose Florida because its climate and ecology are very similar to their native home, Southeast Asia. When he started letting interested visitors into the park, he knew he could never cage his monkeys. If humans wanted to come, they would have to be the ones in cages! Today, the 30-acre Monkey Jungle is still owned and operated by Joseph DuMonds' son, Frank. Research and observation of these free-range monkeys has led to some definitive works on primate behavior.

The park is well-organized with three demonstrations, each highlighting one of the major areas of the park- the wild monkey swimming pool, the Orang Utans, and the Amazonian Rainforest. The rainforest was in its prime in the early nineties. With the foliage and climate, it actually captured low-lying clouds and made its own weather systems with enough daily rainfall to be an actual rainforest. Hurricane Andrew destroyed it, and although it is making a comeback, it still has some time to go before it's as splendid as it was.

One of the more fun activities at Monkey Jungle is feeding the monkeys. You can purchase peanuts and dried fruit at the entrance and leave treats for the monkeys in hanging baskets. They're never far away, and they keep an eagle eye on those baskets- as soon as food is deposited, they run over, pull the basket up to the caged "roof", and dig out the treats. But be careful- a hungry monkey almost dropped a basket on my head as I walked by!

Monkey Jungle is open daily from 9:30 - 5:00. For more information, call (305) 235-1611 or visit Monkey Jungle on the web. Have fun, but be careful- it's a jungle out there!

10. Coral Castle

Coral Castle is an engineering marvel consisting of over 1,100 tons of carved coral rock located in Homestead, Florida. If you're travelling from Miami down to the Keys, it's well worth the stop. Coral Castle, also known as Rock Gate, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ed Leedskalnin built Coral Castle with his own two hands over an almost 30-year period in the 1950s. He refused to allow anyone to watch him work, leading to speculation that the castle was constructed through the use of paranormal powers.

Visiting the castle is a marvelous experience. You truly cannot grasp the wonder of Ed's engineering accomplishment until you view the massive chunks of coral rock with your own eyes. Visitors may take a 30-minute audio tour, offered in English, Spanish, French or German.

Coral Castle Location
Coral Castle is located at 28655 South Dixie Highway in Homestead. It's at the intersection of SW 157th Avenue and US 1. Detailed driving directions are available on the Coral Castle website.
Hours of Operation
Coral Castle is open 8AM-6PM on Sundays through Thursdays and 8AM-9PM on Fridays and Saturdays.
Admission
Admission to the Coral Castle is $9.75 for adults (ages 13-61), $6.50 for seniors 62 and older, $5 for children (ages 7-12) and free for children 6 and under.

National geographic junior telescope?

Is national geographic junior telescope(50mm/180x ) any good? I'm not expecting any high standards, just maybe few stars from close up and few moon craters.

This is one of the worst excuses for a telescope ever made. It will quickly discourage you from any astronomy in your future.

There are several different kinds of telescopes and all of them have some excellent features. Refractors and Reflectors, plus Schmidt-Cassegrain, APO refractors and more. There are also several mounts to chose from and the mounts are just as important as the scope is. All of the different scopes and mounts have some features that some people like and do not like.

There is no one scope that is "better" than another except for the junk scopes out there which are all just a waste of money. Never, ever buy from Walmart, Costco, Target, or any other discount store like that. Junk scopes are flooded into the market from those stores. You will be buying nothing but bad optics and plastic.

http://oriontelescopes.com/

Orion is the very best for value and for customer service too. I have 2 of their scopes and I will only buy from them from now on.

The Orion site has some excellent diagrams and explanations of all types of scopes and mounts.

Things to consider are size--can the user lift and transport the scope to the viewing site easily? If not, then it will gather dust in a closet. Can the viewer reach all the knobs and buttons? I have a long tube large manual refractor and it is very dificult for me to reach the knobs when I am pointed to Zenith. I am not a tall person.

Take your time in making your decision.

I would like to suggest that you join a local astronomy club or astronomical society BEFORE you spend your money on a scope. There are many different kinds of scopes and what is perfect for one person is not perfect for another. Everyone has their own set of eyeballs and no two are the same. If you join a club, you can attend a few of their star parties and try out members scopes to see what works best for YOU, before you buy a scope. The members can also help you when you get your scope and show you how to get the most out of your new scope as well as to help teach you where the treasures in the sky are located. Most clubs have loaner scopes and extensive libraries that you can gather more information from too. Most clubs will have monthly membership meetings with informative presentations given by members and by guest speakers. You can really learn a lot from these clubs and an added plus is all the great new freinds you make there too.

Some people will suggest that you purchase binnoculars. Not a bad idea but dont buy anything less than 10x50 and you must have a tripod too or you will not be happy with your astronomical views because they will be too shakey from your movements. Personally, I prefer a scope to binos because if binoculars are not aligned properly at the factory, then you get double images and distortions that cant be fixed. Most of the cheaper binoculars are not properly aligned. That is not as important for terrestial viewing but it is a killer for astronomical viewing.

But when you buy go Orion and you wont be disappointed. Don't try to learn everything all at once or you will be overwhelmed and discouraged. Patience is the key to Astronomy.

You will also need a good star chart program.

This is great freeware that you can download. Just tell it where you are and it will tell you what you see.

I wish you all the best. Enjoy

Binoculars For Astronomy - Know the Basics

If you like to look to the heavens even just occasionally get yourself some decent binoculars and indulge in a little binocular astronomy. Think about it, binoculars are inexpensive, highly portable and require no complicated setting up procedure so are ideal for casual astronomy.

Binoculars allow excellent moon views, and great viewing of star fields, comets and even deep sky objects. They are especially useful for beginners as unlike astronomy telescopes they keep the view the the right way up, making it really easy to navigate the skies. With a little practice you can pick out several of the planets and even the larger moons orbiting Jupiter. Clusters like Pleiades look great because the binoculars wide field of view lets you have more of the cluster in view at one time than a telescope would.

So how to choose which ones? Binoculars have two specifications marked on the body of the binocular in the form of 7x 50, where the first number represents the magnification (in this case 7 times) and the second the aperture in millimeters (50mm in this case). When it comes to selecting the right binoculars for astronomy, aperture is the most important feature to think about. The bigger the aperture the more light is captured so the brighter and clearer the image will be. For astronomy use you will need at least 40mm aperture and preferably larger.

You will need a magnification factor of at least 7, maybe up to 10 if you have a steady hand. Any higher than about 10 times magnification and you will need to mount your binoculars on a tripod as the hand shake effect makes it difficult to get a sharp image.

There are giant binoculars available with higher magnifications and apertures which are designed for astronomy use but you will certainly need a sturdy tripod or mount to use them. These can offer excellent viewing up to about 25 times magnification with 100mm apertures.

This brings us to another point, a specification known as the 'exit pupil'. This specification refers to the diameter of the shaft of light that exits the eyepieces and into your eyes. You can easily calculate it by dividing the aperture by the magnification so that 7 x 50 binocular has an exit pupil of just over 7mm. Capturing as much of that as possible is good as it means all the available light is getting to where you want it, i.e.your eye. If you are still in your twenties you can probably use all of that 7mm exit pupil mentioned above as your pupils will dilate to about that size in very dark conditions, however as you get older your pupil does not dilate more than about 4 to 5 mm so large exit pupils are wasted (though it starts to make those 25x 100's look good!).

You might notice another specification marked on the binocular, the field of view (FOV), it refers to the apparent side to side view as you look through the binoculars. It will be expressed as an angle in degrees or a measure such as 340 feet at 1000 yards. For astronomy use we can generally ignore that factor, it really does not matter a great deal at the distances we'll be viewing at.

So now you have the basics why not get yourself some binoculars and indulge in a little casual astronomy, you'll be rewarded with some wonderful sights!

Telescope Astronomy

William Herschel and the Biggest Telescope of the 18th Century

William Herschel was possibly the greatest astronomer of the 18th Century. He made many discoveries including the finding of Uranus. But his biggest claim to fame was his ability to build telescopes. Over his lifetime he hand-built over 400 telescopes including a giant that was over 40 feet long with a mirror that was almost 50 inches wide.  He paved the way for many astronomers and telescope makers for centuries to come.

He first picked up the pursuit of astronomy as a hobby.  It quite possibly would have remained just a hobby but on one night in 1781 he discovered the planet Uranus and this discovery brought him a lot of fame and enough fortune to give up his normal job as musician. He went on to study astronomy and telescope making full time. He became so enamored by it and by the art of telescope making that he rose to the position of Kings Astronomer and during his lifetime he made telescopes and discoveries of celestial objects that shaped much of the modern science and pursuit of astronomy.

He was born in 1738 and he lived until 1822. During this time he and his sister Caroline devoted many hours and many nights to observing celestial objects and making ever larger telescopes.  His largest telescope was larger than a house, and while it was quite a remarkable instrument, it was cumbersome to use so he used a smaller telescope that was only twenty feet long for most of his serious discoveries and observations.

Some of Herschel’s Discoveries and Accomplishments

·         He discovered a new planet (Uranus) in 1781

·         He built the largest telescope of his time

·         He discovered two satellites of Uranus

·         He discovered two moons of Saturn (Mimas and Enceladus)

·         He discovered two new moons of Jupiter (Titania and Oberon

·         He coined the word asteroid from the Greek

·         He created an extensive catalog of nebulae called the Herschel Catalog which has over 2,500 listings

·         He discovered that most double stars were not optical doubles but actual binary stars that revolved around each other. This was significant because it was the first proof that Newton’s law of gravitation applies to objects outside our solar system.

·         By observing the motion of stars he also discovered the fact that our solar system is moving in space.  And he determined in which direction it is moving.

He built most of his telescopes and used them at his home in Bath England and to this day the home still stands and has been turned into a museum that the public can visit. It is called the Herschel Museum of Astronomy.

His sister Caroline spent many years as his assistant and she would take extensive notes while he observed through the telescope. Eventually she began making observations on her own and became quite a famous astronomer in her own right. She is credited with making many discoveries including eight comets and the M 110 Galaxy which is the second companion galaxy to the famed Andromeda Galaxy.

William Herschel lived in a time when it was not possible to simply buy a telescope. He was forced to build his own. Because of this he advanced both the science of astronomy and the art of telescope making. His largest telescope was the largest in the world for almost 50 years.  Eventually technology improved and it allowed other people to make even larger and better telescopes. Nevertheless Herschel holds a special place in the worlds of astronomy and telescope making as the greatest telescope maker of the 18th century and as one of the greatest observers of all time.

What was the significance of galileo's "new astronomy" and his telescope , beyond science?

in other words how was he significant in a way that does not have to do with science.

real answers only please

Galileo did not invent the telescope, so it is not "his telescope." His use of the telescope to look at and study planets continued a scientific paradigm shift within the cultural paradigm shift of the Renaissance, high Middle Ages, and the Protestant Reformation which started in 1517. Copernicus started the scientific paradigm shift when he published shortly before his death. Galileo's planetary studies and publications were the final step in the scientific paradigm shift.

Best Places To Buy Telescopes

What are some of the best places to buy a telescope? What places can offer a great service, a great price, yet allow you to get the most out of the science of astronomy? Luckily there are some best places to buy telescopes. In this article, we will take a look at the best places to buy telescopes.

Buying a telescope is not always the easiest thing to do. It is not likely that you will find a local store that specializes in telescopes. I feel this makes less people to get into astronomy, simply because, it is hard to find telescopes.

Luckily, it is not that hard to find, that it is not possible. In fact, there are many places that specialize in telescopes or at least, have a good range of telescopes that are actually useful.

You see, the toy store purchased telescopes, and those telescopes you may find at a camera and binocular store, usually are of no good for long term practical astronomy. They are of low quality, and viewing anything other than the Moon, can be troublesome. We need to do a little more to get a great scientific instrument that is easy to use, and can give us many years of viewing.

There are 3 choices when looking for the best places to buy telescopes, they are:
* Specialized Stores
* Mail Order
* Online

There are benefits and negatives to all options. Let's take a look at them in detail. I hope it will help you get the best telescope for your needs, and allow you to have many years of fun in astronomy.

* Specialized Stores
Specialized stores selling telescopes can be a great way to go. It is not always easy to find them, and it is likely that you will need to go on a long journey to the store; however, it can be a great decision.

You get help from staff, and these people likely know about astronomy. They likely have telescopes, and are willing to help people get into astronomy. The only problem is price. You likely will pay high prices on a telescope, which could come much cheaper to you.

* Mail Order
Another option is mail order. Now this is easy. You see an advert and you buy. Within 30 days, you could get your telescope. Even though this option is great, it is becoming less popular, than buying online.

* Online
If you want the best places to buy telescopes, then you need to look online. Online, you can find the information you want, and at the same time, find a telescope for much cheaper, than it would cost in a specialized store.

Astronomy - telescope question?

A telescope that has a focal length of 2.0 meters is pointed at the Moon. How much is the Moon magnified if you use a eyepiece with a focal length of 40 mm?

Magnification is focal length of telescope divided by focal length of eyepiece, but you need them both in the same units. 2.0 meters is 2,000 mm. 2,000/40=50. So 50 power.

Black Holes in Space

The earth is not dead and neither is our solar system- the Milky Way Galaxy, or any of the million of universes out there. They are all alive, and the creative womb that keeps birthing new off springs is called a black hole. Just how many black holes in space there are no one knows. We're lucky to even know they exist.

And then there's this question. How did the Mayans and other ancient civilizations know that they even existed? They had no telescopes. They didn't have the sophisticated scientific equipment that we have today, and yet they figured this all out? How did the Mayans know that at the center of our own galaxy there was what they called a womb: a dark mass that could not be seen with the naked eye.

How'd they know that?

The active galaxies appear to require a compact energy source of enormous strength. The most plausible candidate is a rotating, supermassive black hole. Although not even a single galaxy has yet been proven to have a central black hole, the list of candidates has increased yet again. Recent results by astronomers using the Hubble Space Telescope now indicate that most - and possibly even all - large galaxies may harbor one of these dense beasts.

The cosmos is alive and it is the black holes that scientists are pointing to more and more as the regenerative vehicle. Astrophysicist, John Gribbin wrote, "Instead of a balck hole representing a one-way journey to nowhere- many researchers now believe that it is a one-way journey to somewhere-to a new expanding universe in it own set of dimensions."

In other words, our universe came from somewhere, out there, to form this universe in here. And come Dec. 21, 2012, we will cross over the circumference of our universe which scientists now say is a black hole and with the resultant vibrations and resonance, no one knows what will happen.

How did the Mayans know that? Tell me How did they know that centuries ago?

how is a space telescope able to see as far as 10.5 billion light years into the past in a matter of moments?

Is it because that light has reached us in 10.5 billion years, and we are actually only seeing right in front of us, as apposed to actually seeing a far distance? If so is it not a telescope at all?

Its hard to comprehend wether we are focusing the light created in front of our eye or are we actually looking at something across space?

Light is made of photons. Whether the trip the photon makes is 3 feet, or 3 billion lightyears makes no difference to us - we see it *now*, when it finally arrives.

Generally, the longer the photon has to travel, the less likely it is of reaching us - which is why things close up are easier to see, and things far away are difficult to see.

Astronomical Telescope – Amazing Link to the Stars

For most people, telescope is easily associated to the stars, the planets, asteroids, the moon and its craters and the heavens in general. In my case, when I see a even just the simple reflecting telescope (or maybe a telescope observatory or planetarium) I can only quickly think about astronomy and how this optical wonder of a gadget has been a great help in the development and advancement of this amazing science.

What actually are telescopes? The most popular ones are the refracting telescope as well as the reflecting telescope. Scopes are the best device to use if you want to view far away objects. This is made possible via magnification.

How do Refracting and Reflecting Telescope Gadgets Work?

The principal mechanism in which a telescope works is quite simple.  A scope has a double lens; such lenses are where you look through to clearly see distant objects. The first of the lenses receives the light coming from the object and then throws it onto a focal point. The second lens then receives the light from the point, which then is spread out to the retina of the eye and in effect making the distant object viewable.

The first lens which receives light from the distant object is the primary mirror or objective lens. While the second lens that receives light coming from the focal point is the eyepiece.

The efficiency of the reflecting telescope is determined via its capacity to collect light and enlarge the image of the object. More light can be collected as the telescope becomes larger. Image enlargement on the other hand depends on the quality and type of lens combination.

Indeed, you only need to utilize your reflecting telescope when it comes to efficiently scanning and observing the skies and outer space and at the time being at awe with all the amazing stars and heavenly bodies that they offer.

What is a good price to pay for a first telescope at age 13?

I just got into astronomy and I really want a telescope. I get $8.60 pocket money per week (NZ). What is a good price to pay? I only want something that will magnify the stars, no fancy stuff.

If you don't have a lot of money to burn, you might want to start out with a pair of binoculars, like 7x50 or 10x50. They'll show you more stars than you could ever see by eye, as well as few deep-sky objects, like the brighter galaxies and star clusters. They're light, low-maintenance, and can take in huge swaths of the night sky.

One of the reasons I recommend binocs is that good telescopes aren't cheap. Personally, I wouldn't recommend paying less than $200 for one, though a decent scope can be had for that price. Whatever telescope you buy, make sure it's from a reputable manufacturer, like Orion, Meade, or Celestron. Avoid any and every telescope by Tasco, Bushnell, or Jason.

Speaking of Orion, they have a selection of good telescopes (and binoculars, for that matter) for under $200...

Best of luck!
