Need help choosing the best telescope in the list.?
I need your help deciding which model telescope for a beginner to semi. 1. Mounting equatorial Meade scope Reflctor F = 910 D = 114 (Meade 114EQ-AST) or 2: Azimut Monte, Galileo reaches reflector M = 1100 D = 102 (Galileo FS-102DX2) I'm looking for the best overall multi-purpose use and those are my two options. Thanks!
If I absolutely had to choose between the two, I would get the Meade. I here's why. 1. The Meade has more openness, to 114 compared to 102 mm. This is not a huge difference, but bigger is bigger and corrector plate in the reflector Galileo probably has nothing to minimize the light reflects off of it. 2. The Meade has an equatorial mount. Although this particulay assembly is basically a "Mickey Mouse "agreement and can not do any astrophotography appriciable should put her motor units on it, if you can put the motor units in what is still be able to get some low magnification time (but fairly short) exposures. In fact, if you are presistant can be quite satisfied with what you get taking into account the equipment you are using. In my honest opinion favorable, you are a semi-beginner and seems to know enough to look around before buying, if I were you I would save about $ 100 more and find a used Meade or Celestron 8 "Schmidt Cassegrain Many former Orange tubes cost $ 400 -. $ 500 and are areas with the opening versatile enough to actually see things and make adjustments great astrophotography.

Galileo G102MD 1100 x 102mm Catadioptric Telescope w/Motor Drive
List Price: |
DescriptionGalileo G-102MD Electronic Catadioptric Telescope is half the telescope with twice the ability. In some cases, shorter is better. This is one of them. The catadioptric feature has a correcting lens built into the optical tube that extends the focal length without the need for an extra-long tube. Another plus... it's mounted on a fully motorized dual axis German equatorial mount. Hey, if it can run on it's own power, it's got my vote. Frees me up to put my energy elsewhere. Plus, the dual axis control center hand box lets you scan the skies without looking away from the eyepiece. You can stay focused on the cosmos without distraction. And that's not all: 102 mm primary mirror; 1100 mm focal length; Heavy-duty 1.25" Helical R&P focuser; Color filter wheel with 2 filters (nebula and planetary); 2 eyepieces (6.8 mm-16 mm zoom & 20 mm); 3x barlow; Mars-eye electronic finder; Fully pre-assembled tripod; Adjustable tube clamp; Heavy-duty secondary and primary mirror cells; Measures 16 x 11 x 42 3/4", weighs 51 lbs. Includes handy accessory tray and Galileo plantarium CD-ROM, instructional video and limited 1-year manufacturer's warranty. The far reaches of the galaxy are waiting. Order yours today! Galileo G102MD Electronic Catadioptric Telescope With the Galileo G-102MD catadioptric reflector telescope, you can scan the skies without looking away from your eyepiece, thanks to a hand box control center. Whether you're photographing a comet or watching a shadow transit of one or more of Jupiter's moons, the G-102MD will deliver the performance you need. The large 102mm primary mirror accepts 28 percent more light for brighter and more visible sky viewing. Catadioptric telescopes have a lens built into the focus housing that extends the focal length of the telescope without having extra long tube. The result is half the telescope with twice the ability. The smaller tube length also helps to have less adjustments be made to the scope when being used by people of different heights. The Galileo Color Filter Wheel comes standard with the G102MD. The nebula and planetary filters further enhance the users ability to study astronomical objects. It's backed by a one-year warranty, and it comes with the following items: 102mm primary mirror 1100mm focal length 1.25-inch Helical R and P focuser Color filter wheel with 2 filters, nebula and planetary 2 eyepieces (6.8mm-16mm zoom and 20mm) 3x Barlow Mars-eye electronic finder Fully pre-assembled tripod Adjustable tube clamp Secondary and primary mirror cells Accessory tray Galileo trilogy software (Planetarium CD-ROM with instructional video and Britannica Touch the Sky) Features
