galileo telescope catadioptric

Need help choosing the best telescope in the list.?
I need your help deciding which model telescope for a beginner to semi. 1. Mounting equatorial Meade scope Reflctor F = 910 D = 114 (Meade 114EQ-AST) or 2: Azimut Monte, Galileo reaches reflector M = 1100 D = 102 (Galileo FS-102DX2) I'm looking for the best overall multi-purpose use and those are my two options. Thanks!
If I absolutely had to choose between the two, I would get the Meade. I here's why. 1. The Meade has more openness, to 114 compared to 102 mm. This is not a huge difference, but bigger is bigger and corrector plate in the reflector Galileo probably has nothing to minimize the light reflects off of it. 2. The Meade has an equatorial mount. Although this particulay assembly is basically a "Mickey Mouse "agreement and can not do any astrophotography appriciable should put her motor units on it, if you can put the motor units in what is still be able to get some low magnification time (but fairly short) exposures. In fact, if you are presistant can be quite satisfied with what you get taking into account the equipment you are using. In my honest opinion favorable, you are a semi-beginner and seems to know enough to look around before buying, if I were you I would save about $ 100 more and find a used Meade or Celestron 8 "Schmidt Cassegrain Many former Orange tubes cost $ 400 -. $ 500 and are areas with the opening versatile enough to actually see things and make adjustments great astrophotography.

Description
With the Galileo G-102MD catadioptric reflector telescope, you can scan the skies without looking away from your eyepiece, thanks to a hand box control center. Whether you're photographing a comet or watching a shadow transit of one or more of Jupiter's moons, the G-102MD will deliver the performance you need. The large 102mm primary mirror accepts 28 percent more light for brighter and more visible sky viewing. Catadioptric telescopes have a lens built into the focus housing that extends the focal length of the telescope without having extra long tube. The result is half the telescope with twice the ability. The smaller tube length also helps to have less adjustments be made to the scope when being used by people of different heights. The Galileo Color Filter Wheel comes standard with the G102MD. The nebula and planetary filters further enhance the users ability to study astronomical objects. It's backed by a one-year warranty, and it comes with the following items: 102mm primary mirror 1100mm focal length 1.25-inch Helical R and P focuser Color filter wheel with 2 filters, nebula and planetary 2 eyepieces (6.8mm-16mm zoom and 20mm) 3x Barlow Mars-eye electronic finder Fully pre-assembled tripod Adjustable tube clamp Secondary and primary mirror cells Accessory tray Galileo trilogy software (Planetarium CD-ROM with instructional video and Britannica Touch the Sky)
Galileo G-102MD Electronic Catadioptric Telescope is half the telescope with twice the ability. In some cases, shorter is better. This is one of them. The catadioptric feature has a correcting lens built into the optical tube that extends the focal length without the need for an extra-long tube. Another plus... it's mounted on a fully motorized dual axis German equatorial mount. Hey, if it can run on it's own power, it's got my vote. Frees me up to put my energy elsewhere. Plus, the dual axis control center hand box lets you scan the skies without looking away from the eyepiece. You can stay focused on the cosmos without distraction. And that's not all: 102 mm primary mirror; 1100 mm focal length; Heavy-duty 1.25" Helical R&P focuser; Color filter wheel with 2 filters (nebula and planetary); 2 eyepieces (6.8 mm-16 mm zoom & 20 mm); 3x barlow; Mars-eye electronic finder; Fully pre-assembled tripod; Adjustable tube clamp; Heavy-duty secondary and primary mirror cells; Measures 16 x 11 x 42 3/4", weighs 51 lbs. Includes handy accessory tray and Galileo plantarium CD-ROM, instructional video and limited 1-year manufacturer's warranty. The far reaches of the galaxy are waiting. Order yours today! Galileo G102MD Electronic Catadioptric Telescope

Does anyone own a Celestron CGE telescope EdgeHD Pro 1400?
What do you think the scope is it good? Should I buy instead of a plain CGE Pro 1400?
I have several friends that I have EdgeHDs, and they really like. If you are seriously in imaging, I think it's worth the price difference.

How long have you been interested in astronomy?
I think it was about four years when I had my first exhibition of outer space: I was looking for Blue's Clues, and there was an episode in which Blue explore the solar system. I remember being very interested. When I was about 7, I grabbed a couple of science books from DK about the solar system. I just saw the pictures (and when I could, I read the subtitles too.) Now at 16, I'm using a telescope for the first time. What is your story?
I have been interested in astronomy, as long as I remember. When I was a little kid, I ask my father he could tell me about the universe. From there, I spent many nights stay and reading books about the solar system and universe, and I asked myself the enormous size of the universe and the secrets it contains pure. Been in love with him since.

Description
Cartwheel galaxy, multi-wavelength image. Around 100 million years ago, a smaller galaxy passed directly through the centre of the Cartwheel galaxy. The inner orange ring is the second wave, but this has far less star formation than the first

Stargaze - Hubble's View of the Universe
List Price: $24.95
Sale Price: $12.95
You save: $12.00 (48%)
|

Description
Marvel at the wonders of the universe with this collection of outer space imagery from the Hubble telescope, accompanied by a celestial score. 60 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital stereo, French Dolby Digital stereo, German Dolby Digital stereo, Spanish Dolby Digital stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1 music track, Dolby DTS music track; Subtitles: English, French, German, Spanish; DVD-ROM content; more.
It looks like all that money NASA spent on the Hubble Space Telescope was worth it after all--at least from an aesthetic standpoint. Stargaze: Hubble's View of the Universe captivates the viewer with stunningly high-definition color images of galaxies, nebulae, and heavenly bodies closer to home. Each shot pans and lingers over the richly colored pictures as unobtrusive narration in English, French, German, or Spanish explains the history of the Hubble mission, its targets, and what we've learned so far. The music by 2002 is harmless and quiet, though viewers pathologically averse to New Age will scramble for the audio control. Including screensavers and Web features, Stargaze will keep spaceheads happy and entranced for hours, and convert the unbelievers. --Rob Lightner

Astronomy Telescope Space

In this beautiful
celestial still life
composed with a cosmic brush, dusty nebula
NGC 2170
shines at the upper left.
Reflecting the light of nearby hot stars, NGC 2170
is joined
by other bluish reflection nebulae,
a compact red emission region,
and streamers of obscuring dust against a backdrop of stars.
Like the common household items
still life painters
often choose for their subjects, the clouds of gas, dust, and hot stars
pictured here are also commonly found in this setting -
a massive, star-forming molecular cloud
in the constellation
Monoceros.
The giant
molecular
cloud, Mon R2, is impressively close,
estimated
to be only 2,400 light-years or so away.
At that distance, this canvas would be about 15 light-years across.

Hugging the horizon, a dark red Moon greeted
early morning skygazers in eastern
Atlantic regions on December 21, as the total phase of 2010's
Solstice Lunar Eclipse began near
moonset.
This well composed image of the
geocentric celestial
event is a composite of multiple exposures following
the progression of the eclipse from
Tenerife, Canary Islands.
Initially reflecting brightly on a sea of clouds and
the ocean's surface itself, the Moon sinks deeper
into eclipse as it moves
from left to right across the sky.
Opposite
the Sun, the Moon was immersed in the darkest part
of Earth's shadow as it approached the western horizon,
just before sunrise came to Tenerife.
This Hubble Space Telescope image of galaxy NGC 1275 reveals the fine, thread-like filamentary structures in the gas surrounding the galaxy. The red filaments are composed of cool gas being suspended by a magnetic field, and are surrounded by the 100-million-degree Fahrenheit hot gas in the center of the Perseus galaxy cluster. The filaments are dramatic markers of the feedback process through which energy is transferred from the central massive black hole to the surrounding gas. The filaments originate when cool gas is transported from the center of the galaxy by radio bubbles that rise in the hot interstellar gas. At a distance of 230 million light-years, NGC 1275 is one of the closest giant elliptical galaxies and lies at the center of the Perseus cluster of galaxies. The galaxy was photographed in July and August 2006 with Hubble's Advanced Camera for Surveys. What is the difference if .....?
Two identical observers are watching a clock stop traveling at the speed of light from a star distant. A viewer with the naked eye, the other a high-powered telescope. What would each of the spectators say the clock is read. (Does any difference?) would be a small difference in relation to the length of the telescope or would be able to see farther into space faster with the telescope?? my brain will explode!
__________________________________________________________ The light will be slightly delayed in the telescope, because the light slows down in the lenses glass. If the observer at first glance it reads 10.00, then the observer with the telescope will read a little later 10.00 naked eye observers say that is 10.00, the observer with the telescope will say "No, not yet" ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Description
Even a hundred years after its discovery, superconductivity continues to bring us new surprises, from superconducting magnets used in MRI to quantum detectors in electronics. 100 Years of Superconductivity presents a comprehensive collection of topics on nearly all the subdisciplines of superconductivity. Tracing the historical developments in superconductivity, the book includes contributions from many pioneers who are responsible for important steps forward in the field. The text first discusses interesting stories of the discovery and gradual progress of theory and experimentation. Emphasizing key developments in the early 1950s and 1960s, the book looks at how superconductivity started to permeate society and how most of todayâs applications are based on the innovations of those years. It also explores the genuine revolution that occurred with the discovery of high temperature superconductors, leading to emerging applications in power storage and fusion reactors. Superconductivity has become a vast field and this full-color book shows how far it has come in the past 100 years. Along with reviewing significant research and experiments, leading scientists share their insight and experiences working in this exciting and evolving area.

Celestron SkyMaster Giant 15x70 Binoculars with Tripod Adapter
List Price: $119.95
Sale Price: $62.65

Description
Celestron and ;s SkyMaster Series of large aperture binoculars are a phenomenal value for high performance binoculars ideal for astronomical viewing or for terrestrial (land) use - especially over long distances. Each SkyMaster model features high quality BAK-4 prisms and multi-coated optics for enhanced contrast. Celestron has designed and engineered the larger SkyMaster models to meet the special demands of extended astronomical or terrestrial viewing sessions. The 15x70 version is one of the most popular models in the series. It offers serious large aperture light gathering in an affordable and reasonably lightweight configuration.
Binoculars come in a wide range of shapes and sizes these days, and an even wider range of prices. It's easy to spend less than $100 or more than $500 for what may appear to be, at least outwardly, comparable models. While they may look the same, they are probably quite different on the inside. Recently, the binocular market has seen a flood of giant binoculars at prices that were unheard of just a few years ago. In general, giant binoculars are defined as those that magnify the view 10 times or more and have 70-mm or larger front (objective) lenses. It used to be that the least expensive giant binoculars cost in excess of $150, even $200. All that changed not long ago, when the bottom fell out of the price cellar. Now, several companies import giant binoculars that sell for half that, or less. Celestron's 15x70 SkyMaster binoculars are one of the leaders in the low-price giant binocular arena. They certainly sound good on paper. The SkyMasters include multicoated optics and BaK-4 internal prisms, two features that promise brighter, better images, and key points to look for when judging a pair of binoculars. They also come with an adapter for attaching them to a photo tripod, which is a must to use them to their fullest, and a soft carrying case. But just because they are cheap doesn't always mean they are worth the price. Would it be better to save up for a more expensive pair? To find the answer, I had an opportunity recently to judge the SkyMasters against a pair of Fujinon 16x70 FMT-SX binoculars , one of the finest pairs of giant binoculars sold today. Like the SkyMasters, the Fujinons feature BaK-4 prisms, but also have fully multicoated optics. As a general rule, superior coatings mean superior image sharpness and contrast. But then, that should be expected, given that the Fujinons cost many times more than the Celestrons. While the Fujinons were clearly the better performer, the Celestron SkyMasters held up admirably. Image brightness, quality, and contrast were all remarkable considering their bargain price. Although images were a little soft across the outer 25% of the Celestron's field, the overall view was impressive nonetheless. Some inexpensive binoculars have very sloppy focusing, causing the eyepieces to tilt and shift. Not so with the SkyMasters. I found that their center-focusing mechanism worked smoothly, with no apparently backlash or wobble. Eye relief (the distance you hold your eyes away from the eyepieces to see the full field) is stated to be 18 mm, a good distance for higher power binoculars and an important consideration if you must wear glasses when viewing. The SkyMasters are also light enough to support by hand for short periods of time, although buyers would be well advised to mount them on a sturdy photo tripod. The bottom line is, if you are considering a pair of giant binoculars, whether for bird watching, stargazing, or another recreational use, and have a limited budget, Celestron's giant 15x70 SkyMasters represent an excellent value. --Phil Harrington, author of Star Ware and Star Watch Pros: Exceptional value for the price Light enough to support by hand BaK-4 prisms Multicoated optics Cons: Outer 25% of the field is soft and a little blurry Requires a tripod to use for extended periods
Features
- Multi-coated optics
- Large aperture perfect for low light conditions and stargazing
- Tripod adapter
- 13 mm (0.51 in) long eye relief ideal for eyeglass wearers
- Diopter adjustment for fine focusing

AC and DC Power The Schumacher PP-2200 is designed to serve all of your portable AC and DC power needs. The unit's front control panel holds two three-pronged AC outlets which are powered by its built-in 400-watt inverter and cooling fan. Together these allow for safe, effecient conversion of the DC oriented power of the 22Ah battery into AC power suitable for electrical devices that exhibit a power draw of 400-watts or less. In the event of a power draw in excess of 400-watts, the inverter is designed to automatically shut down. This safety feature prevents damaging the inverter while testing devices and equipment. The unit's front control panel also contains a convenient inverter on/off switch which allows users to keep devices plugged without causing an uneccessary drain on the internal battery. After plugging in, simply flip the switch on when you need AC and flip it off when you are finished. Access to DC power is even easier via the side-oriented DC cigarette lighter style outlet. Providing a full 12-volts/15-amp max, this power is always on, meaning that all you need to do is plug in your device via its DC power adapter (not included) and let the power flow. Maintaining Your Charge From Anywhere Maintaining the charge within the Schumacher PP-2200 is a breeze as well. After use, and when near to a standard wall outlet, simply connect the PP-2200 to it via the included AC wall charger. Once a full charge has been attained the unit will automatically go into maintain mode and maintain the battery at full charge without damaging it if you choose to leave the PP-2200 plugged in. You can even charge the internal battery of the PP-2200 while driving using the male-to-male charger cable (p/n: 38-99-001564 – sold separately). To do so insert one end of the accessory cable into the 12-volt DC power outlet and the other end into the vehicle's accessory outlet (lighter socket), ensuring that the DC charging accessory is unplugged when your vehicle's engine is not running to prevent car battery drainage. Either way that you choose to charge the PP-2200 you can monitor the units charging status right from its control panel with the push of a button. Description
Amazon.com Review Celestron's Nexstar 8 SE telescope combines excellent optics and computerized "GoTo" tracking in a package that's light, portable and affordable. The legendary performance of Celestron's orange tube C8 telescope has been updated with high performance Starbright XLT coatings, and the single arm Nexstar mount now includes Celestron's easy to use "SkyAlign" technology. Jupiter as seen through the Celestron NexStar 8SE special-edition computerized telescope. The Nexstar 8 SE upholds Celestron's reputation for quality optics. When I use an 11mm Plossl eyepiece (almost 200x magnification) for example, I can easily see the Cassini Division in Saturn's rings. When I look at Jupiter, the pale orange color of Jupiter's famous Great Red Spot is visible, and I've even been able to identify the polar caps and spot dust storms on the planet Mars. A 20mm Plossl eyepiece (about 100x magnification) is a good choice for viewing galaxies and star clusters. When I look at globular cluster M13 in the constellation Hercules the high contrast XLT optics show me a glowing snowflake made of hundreds of tiny pin-point stars! And a low power 32mm Plossl eyepiece is a good choice for views of larger deep space highlights like the Andromeda Galaxy and the Orion Nebula. The moon seen through the Celestron NexStar 8SE telescope.(See larger image.) Celestron's patented "SkyAlign" system makes the Nexstar 8 SE very easy to use. I just pick the nearest town from the built-in list, enter the date and time, and point the telescope at three bright stars. I don't need a star chart because "SkyAlign" identifies the stars for me. When I just want a quick look at the moon or a planet, I like to use the "Solar System Align" option. After entering the date and time, I just point the telescope at the moon and press the "Align" key. That's all it takes, the computer takes over and the telescope begins tracking quietly and accurately. At star parties I often have my Nexstar up and running while older computerized telescopes are still waiting for their alignment stars to appear in the twilight. The Nexstar 8 SE comes with a simple red-dot finder scope and a basic 25mm eyepiece. You'll want to add a few good eyepieces to take full advantage of the Nexstar 8 SE's excellent optics. At the very least get Celestron's bargain priced Accessory Kit which includes high and low power plossl eyepieces, or treat yourself to some top rated Tele Vue eyepieces. At twenty-four pounds total weight, the Nexstar 8 SE is unusually light and portable for an eight-inch telescope. The drawback of course is that some people will find it too light. Like other Schmidt Cassegrain (SCT) telescopes there are plenty of optional accessories to upgrade this telescope with, such as heavy duty tripods and an optical finder scope. If you want to try astro-photography, however, check out Celestron's CPC 800 Telescope which features a heavy duty mount and tripod and an 8x50 optical finder scope right out of the box. --Jeff Phillips Pros: Excellent optics Easy computerized GoTo tracking Light, portable and affordable Cons: Plastic accessories Short battery life Too light for astro-photography
The Celestron NexStar 8SE Telescope offers a multitude of features, including the 2032mm focal length and SkyAlign. Telescope confusion .. First Telescope: What is the correct ....!!?
I've been saving for a telescope of a very long time ... I have studied online forums for amateur astronomers .. However, I'm still confused .. Theirs no star parties around where I live or the people Nearby ... Cost much to get one in another city ... Therefore, the reflector, refractor, Schmidt-Cassegrain. Birthday .. I like the idea of freedom .. Like the idea of moving .. I like the idea of moving the telescope from one place to another during the viewing experience .. I'm looking for your Dob, and a refractor with motor tracking .. I also like the idea of the SCT, due to the portability and because the size refractor might be difficult to look across the strait, as told ... This is my first telescope .. I have only a basic level of any kind and start .. And sell it later when I have the opportunity to test other out .... Any ideas .... MMMM .... UAAAAGGG ...!!!!! PLEASE HELP ...!!!!!!!
Hi Brian, the first telescope to buy is always exciting, no? What you need to have Consider ... Opening rules! The larger the cube of light, the more photons will reach the retina! I seem to have portability in mind ... Thus, my opinion, a SCT could be perfect for you. Are small (focal length) and easier (and much) that a refractor of the same opening. They are not cheap, not But! Check out: This is the page http://www.telescope.com Telescope Orion's Home. Offers a wide variety of telescopes in a wide range of prices. All your computer is brand new, fully guaranteed. You can not go wrong there! Keep in mind also that a telescope is not good if you do not use ... No buy him something big and heavy that does not take the time to set up and use! I have a 10 "SCT, and is a beautiful telescope, but is only used for projection Image ... My 90mm Mak / Cass gets used more often because it is a much smaller, easier to handle than a large telescope ... Despite this very carefully before you buy! I wish the best of luck with your decision! Peace, Bobby *** *** EDIT Larry! Check your email inbox! B

Description
Celestron Omni XLT 127mm Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope 11084
The Omni XLT 127 is the latest version of Celestron's popular 5-inch Schmidt Cassegrain telescope, the Celestron C5. Over the years the C5 has earned an excellent reputation because of its portable size, powerful optics, and wonderful versatility. The Omni XLT 127 is packaged with Celestron's upgraded CG-4 equatorial mount. A nice quality 6x30 finder scope, a star diagonal, and a multicoated 25mm eyepiece are included. Also included are a good instruction manual and an introductory version of Software Bisque's "The Sky" astronomy software. I've owned a C5 for several years and I've been consistently pleased with its optical quality. When the night air is still and clear I can see the Cassini division in Saturn's rings and pick out cloud bands on Saturn itself. I've been able to watch the shadow of Jupiter's moons glide across the planet's cloud tops and sometimes I can actually see one of the moons passing in front of Jupiter. Deep space objects like galaxies and star clusters are fun to observe as well. When I look at bright globular clusters like M13 in the constellation Hercules, I can pick out a number of individual stars. Bright galaxies also begin to reveal their structure; the Sombrero galaxy M104 looks like a spindle flattened on one side, and the Whirlpool galaxy M51 seems to be interacting with its companion galaxy NGC 5195. The new CG-4 equatorial mount and tripod form a solid base for the Omni XLT 127. The tripod with its 1.75-inch diameter stainless steel legs comes pre-assembled, and the equatorial head attaches easily without tools. I especially like the new dovetail mounting plate because it allows the optical tube to be quickly removed for transport or when I want to use the Omni XLT 127 as a spotting scope. A few accessories help bring out the versatility of the Omni 127. Celestron's Nine-Piece Accessory Kit includes two plossl eyepieces and a Barlow lens. The 32mm eyepiece produces a magnification of 40x, ideal for viewing star clusters or when using the Omni 127 as a spotting scope. The 12.5mm eyepiece magnifies the image 100 times, just right for viewing globular clusters or the planet Jupiter and its moons. The 2x Barlow can be combined with the 12.5mm eyepiece to zoom in on Saturn's rings at 200x. The other useful accessory is Celestron's 93522 Dual Axis Motor Drive. With the motors installed I was able to use my Celestron NexImage camera to taken some beautiful pictures of the moon and planets. The SCT design puts the optical power of a fifty-inch-long telescope in a twelve-inch-long tube, but the design has some minor drawbacks. The corrector plate at the front of the telescope is vulnerable to collecting dew on a cool evening, but this can been overcome by adding a dew shield. The other drawback is the large secondary mirror that causes some loss of contrast compared to refractor designs. Portable, powerful, and versatile; whether it's a first telescope or a portable second scope Celestron's Omni XLT 127 is a great choice for the backyard astronomer. --Jeff Phillips Pros: Portable, powerful, and versatile Excellent optics Sharp views up to 300x magnification Quick no-tool setup Also useful as a spotting scope Cons: Motor not included SCT design causes some loss of contrast Suggested accessories: 93522 Dual Axis Motor Drive Celestron Nine-Piece Accessory Kit Celestron NexImage Solar System Imager
Features
- High quality optics start with each lens and/or mirror being hand selected so only the finest grade of optical glass is used
- StarBright XLT coatings provide maximized light transmission
- 25mm multi-coated eyepiece, 20mm eye relief, 50 deg FOV
- 1.25 star diagonal (except #31057)
- CG-4 German Equatorial Mount with setting circles and slow motion controls to accurately locate and track sky objects

Description
Choosing and Using the New CAT will supersede the author’s successful Choosing and Using a Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope, which has enjoyed enthusiastic support from the amateur astronomy community for the past seven years. Since the first book was published, a lot has changed in the technology of amateur astronomy. The sophistication and variety of the telescopes available to amateurs has increased dramatically. Computerized SCTs, Maksutov-Cassegrains, and most recently Meade’s new and acclaimed Ritchey-Chrétiens have come to dominate the market. That means that all amateurs considering the purchase of a new telescope (not only a SCT, and not just beginners) will benefit from this detailed guide. Choosing the right telescope for particular kinds of observation (or even for general work) is far from easy – but Rod Mollise gives invaluable advice and guidance.

Description
Celestron’s C5 Spotting Scope features excellent optics and wonderful versatility in a compact portable size. Although the C5 is best known as a portable telescope for astronomy, Celestron has outfitted the C5 Spotter for daytime use by packaging the C5 with a soft-sided carrying case, an erect image 6x30 finder scope, a correct image 45 degree diagonal prism, and a good quality 25mm plossl eyepiece for a magnification of 50X. The C5 Spotting Scope is a Schmidt-Cassegrain optical telescope or SCT, and is designed to use many of the hundreds of accessories available in the SCT market including optional eyepieces and camera adapters. A nice option for the C5 spotter is Celestron’s 8 to 24mm Zoom Eyepiece , which allows the user to dial in any magnification from 52X all the way up to 156X. The most important accessory for a high power scope is a sturdy tripod. Celestron’s Heavy Duty Alt-Azimuth Tripod is sturdy enough to handle the C5’s six pound weight and features extended slow motion knobs that make it easier to point the C5 precisely. The C5 is my favorite dual purpose telescope, useful as both a high power spotting scope and as a portable telescope for astronomy. The same fine optics are available in Celestron’s NexStar 5 SE computerized telescope for astronomy. The big advantage of the C5 over traditional refractor style spotting scopes comes from its higher magnification and greater resolving power, at least 50% better resolving power than the best 80mm spotting scopes. The disadvantage, of course, is that a higher magnification gives a narrower field of view. An optional 32mm Plossl eyepiece for example would magnify the image by 39X with about 1.25 degrees true field of view. The high power optical performance of Celestron’s C5 Spotting Scope is nothing short of outstanding. Even at 200X magnification there’s no trace of the “chromatic aberration” or blue fringing commonly seen in refractor style spotting scopes. With a close focus distance of only 20 feet, the C5 spotting scope excels at everything from photographing hummingbirds in the back yard to viewing the rings of Saturn nearly a billion miles away. --Jeff Phillips Hummingbird shot at 30 yards with C5 and Powershot camera Finches shot at 20 yards with C5 and Powershot camera Shot at 200X with C5 and Neximage camera Shot at 50X with C5 and Powershot camera Shot at 400X with C5 and Neximage camera Pros: Dual uses, spotting and astronomy Excellent high power optics No trace of “blue fringing” Cons: Narrow field of view Less rugged than refractors
Celestron's C5 Spotting Scope is a 5 (127mm) aperture, 1250 mm f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain optical system. Its optical excellence is the reason it was chosen by NASA for many space shuttle missions. The C5 spotting scope is an ideal choice for the serious bird watcher, nature lover or anyone who enjoys beautiful views -either from your home or in the field. At just six pounds in weight and 11 inches in length, this spotting scope is a completely portable visual and photographic instrument that performs well in any viewing location. Further, Celestron offers a wide variety of optional accessories to expand the capabilities of this special instrument. The C5's aperture of 5 allows it to easily outperform smaller aperture spotting scopes. Offering 4 1/2 times more light gathering ability than a 60 mm spotting scope and 2 1/2 times more than an 80 mm scope, Celestron's C5 is the clear choice when a powerful instrument delivering brilliant, crisp views is what you require. The C5 spotting scope is a wonderfully versatile instrument, and its near focus of approximately 20 feet allows you to observe plant life, wildlife, birds or insects with ease. At the same time, the C5 can also be used as an astronomical telescope. In addition, the C5 goes easily from working as a powerful spotting scope to being a high performance 1250 mm f/10 telephoto lens. Photography couldn't be easier, because the C5 is designed to be fully camera adaptable. To take professional quality shots with the C5, just attach the correct optional T- Adapter and T-Ring for your 35 mm SLR camera to the back of the C5 spotting scope, and you're ready to shoot. The tripod adapter block on the C5's tube makes easy work of mounting the instrument onto a tripod for either viewing or photography. The C5 comes complete inside its own soft sided carrying case. What kind of ASP used by police? Make / / size, etc. ..
If you know what an ASP, as a modern police baton, I know the size they use as well as the brand. I know that ASP is a brand ... but essentially, metal poles police - as extensible telescope.
Agencies in my area use the ASP model 926, but some plainclothes officials prefer a smaller one.
